Full size parts of plans, Ribs bulkheads ect.

Maybe a stupid question but was wanting to know how everyone was tracing off the plans to mark their forming blocks? The only way i can think of doing it is baking paper then on to cardboard which would be cut to size then marked on to the ply but this doesnt seem very accurate. Any tips or ideas?

Photocopy the part on your plan on a very dark density setting then turn the photocopied paper over, place it on your wood block and tape in place.. Set an ordinary domestic iron to cotton or higher and press the iron over the now reversed pattern ,press hard and go over a few times.Some of the ink from the photocopy line will be transferred on to your wooden block by the heat of the iron. You may need to trace it over a little bit but this works pretty well normally.

Totally left of field idea, but why not take the plans to a printer/vinyl cutter/signwriter (sticky label maker) and get them to make as many of the accurately sized stickers as you need and simply stick them on whatever you are cutting/shaping. Would be a good way of doing it if you have many of the items to cut to the same size such as ribs, etc...

 

Anyone in the kit manufacture area could possibly try this too...

There is a tool that can be used for this, it looks like a pizza cutter and pierces the paper ,it puts a dot of colour where it makes a hole, not sure where you'd get one maybe a google search would track one down
