Guest Clouseau Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Hi, just joined up today - hello to you all. Where can I get information on the pre solo air legislation?
Compulsion Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 I bought the set of books from my flight school when I started. Also a copy of the rules for the airfield you fly from is needed. The books and a log book come in a box for the price of around 1 hrs flying lesson.
68volksy Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Hi Clouseau, Welcome! The pre solo test is generally focussed on local procedures for the aerodrome at which you fly. The test is usually written by each independent flight school. You'll very rarely have to study anything as it'll all be covered during your flying lessons. I think the books the Compulsion refers to are the BAK books which are more useful as you progress further through your training. Hope that helps.
Piet Fil Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Hey Clouseau, I used the Dyson Holland "Recreational" Texts for my Pilots cert and X-country. I found it was good info in a logical format and has lots of revision questions and sample test questions as well. It breaks all the learning into small sections in a logical sequence ie: pre solo air leg, followed by pre-local area solo, radio, BAK etc Its worth getting the HPL supplement as well. Whatever you use will have the air leg basics in it, just it may be hidden in the greater font of knowledge rathyer than labelled as Pre-solo air leg. Phil
