Those holes create stress points. Inspect occasionally. Having the light colour helps see any cracks. I do tube steel engine mounts in "flat white" etch..  Nev

Flying Harry of Iceland rides his Nynja to a Fly-in at BIEG (Egilsstaður) over on the east coast.

Thanks Gary, would have been fun.  All had the wide tyres and one had the new 600 kg undercarriage(wheels lean in A little when unloaded).  Been servicing a mates v max and he has had a nose wheel widened, will look like these.  Going up tomorrow to finish things and put the wings back on.  Weather is poor, real crap at the moment with wind and rain.

Close up of lift plates (3mm s/s) fitted regarding images in March of fitting new undercarriage design for 600kg.  I also cut some black tube to protect the paint on the flap covers edge paint.

Having just received my 600kg upgrade kit from Flylight UK for my Nynja, 

I texted Mike if he could send me some close up photos of how he manage to lift the plane without having to take the wings off to replace the existing undercarriage to a stronger version. 

He said he would post some photos on here for anyone interested and just wanted to say thanks for doing so mate, much appreciated 😀

Looks good Mike.. I had my wing frames on last week to set up aileron cables. All went really well. This week I made a wing stand ready for when I cover the wings. Just waiting on some back ordered cable to arrive so i can run the strobe light cables, then cover the wings.

Beaut autumn conditions this morning for a fly around the valley in the Nynja at 60% power. A sign of the nice flying weather to come.  I fitted a manifold pressure guage last year and when on long trips I'll set engine to the 75% power pressure and see how that goes  speed / flue usage wise.

Just cut and fitted the gap seal to the port side. A nice addition that I see as part of the 600 kg rated undercarriage.  I previously had some foam cut and placed in this area. Took twice as long to do so only one side finished today.  Also got some plugs for the end of the carry through tube the undercarriage is attached to. Internals coated with ACF50 and plugs will keep any dirt out. Same can be done to all Skyranger variants.

Nice flight from Palmyra (YPYA) down to the Central Queensland Gliding Club (YMMD) for the weekend. Winter is on the way as 6 degrees in mornings. Good clear skies. Davo put on great feeds for all. Details 2.6 hours into a 20 knot head wind and a nice 2 hour flight home. I was under prepared on the trip down wearing a T shirt and shorts as the first of winter has arrived and felt cold after an hour and a bit as was 11 degrees and no cabin heat and a bit drafty (will replace some of the sealing foam of the split door window) dropped some height and got temp up to 15 degrees and much warmer for the remainder of the trip.

When flying the Nynja I find every now and then I need to adjust my rudder trim, about 2 to 3 mm at times to relieve any light rudder pedal pressure required in flight not uncomfortable but like to have it nice (Last flight to counter need for light right rudder moved bungee 2.5 mm to left and resulted in very slight foot on left rudder.  Therefore; need to move it 0.5 mm to right to obtain sweet spot) 
I had thought of a couple of ways to fabricate an adjustment method from the cabin in flight. 
Today I finished my first version that consists of a morse type push pull control cable that attaches to the rudder bungee (so bungee anchor point can be pushed or pulled off its preferred setting). In the cabin I have made a small wheel that is threaded and mounted between two retainer brackets.  By turning it pulls or pushes the bungee as it travels along the cabin side threaded end of the control cable.  It provides the necessary movement and will try for first time on Saturday afternoon.

Good idea Mike. Small adjustments make a big difference to trim on mine also.

Yep, just a mm or two a times. About 2:30 pm I’m doing first flight for an overnight so will post result.  I recon Flylight will do something like this. I like the wheel as the movement is graduated being the pitch of thread. I drilled hole in wheel to lighten and if needed can insert a pin to hold wheel in its position. Should not need a pin though.

Started an upgrade to a Nynja (Scott’s Spirit of Kittyhawk) to add to its 600kg undercarriage fitted a while back and wide tyres and the wide nose leg.  Now removed the Starboard wing to fit the wing upgrade kit and install a set of the Aussie wing tanks. Ben will be rapt in the fit up.  This is being completed under the owner builder category. We’re grateful to the developments that Flylight in the UK do and the wing fuel tank (52 liters each) kits have been working great since 2012.  I’ll do mine later in the year.

Date on paper is date of flight for World Ultralight day.  Need to have day in image my phone does not date stamp. So like many other just hold up a date. Image data is same date. My post is the same day 14th.  They do it every October.  Our time zone is 10 hours earlier so that can put our date being before. New Zealand are usually first to fly as sunrise before Australia.

Update is that I have added a thread extension to my rudder bungee adjuster so I now have 28 mm adjustment travel set at 14mm each way. Just finished adding a bit of width to the arm rest to make it more comfortable. And also changed out the cord for some light gauge stainless steel chain to take out the springiness. Looking forward for a fly soon.

Had a nice fly around the block, first fly for a few weeks due to weather and other commitments.  Great conditions. Also yesterday received the rear wing tube upgraded bracket so in the wet can fit the 600 kg wing upgrade and in a couple of weeks finish off Ben’s wings.  In the parcel were a set of 17mm silicone coolant hoses and clamps for the Rotax 912 ULS that will be fitted in the neat future.
