Also yesterday received the rear wing tube upgraded bracket so in the wet can fit the 600 kg wing upgrade and in a couple of weeks finish off Ben’s wings.  In the parcel were a set of 17mm silicone coolant hoses and clamps for the Rotax 912 ULS that will be fitted in the neat future.

i bought a yacht at airlie beach once and moved it around to shute harbour. magnificent place. i could have easily lived at shute but the wife likes cool weather.

Been doing a bit of mod to the Nynja over Christmas while the rain is on and while helping Ben with his wing tanks and 600 kg upgrade.  Just increased the lower cowl lip to create a low pressure area to assist cooling air flow. For a few years had a 30mm lip in lexan and now made a permanent 46mm lip with epoxy and mat. The 30mm was a good improvement in keeping temps down at maximum rpm.  (Don't fly max rpm cruise often but will be good for long continuous climbs.) See how this goes and can always trim back to 30mm it needed.

Thanks mate, had been on the to do list for a long time; but inconvenient to remove for a few days so always had been put off until another time.  Mainly being slack.  Always had a lexan one but it got a crack in it.  Glad it's done now.  Merry Xmas and enjoy the festive season.  Cheers.

Hello, early Nynjas had the oil cooler in tandem behind the water coolant radiator. This leads to high oil temps in certain situations.

Anyone have some pictures of how the Oil cooler is fitted in the more recent installations?, I gather its a pair of brackets coming off the gearbox

(I have tried to find a clear photo online but no luck so far)

This is how I did my fit-up back in 2014.  I could not understand why they used to mount back to back and onto to the lower cowl.  Brackets are made from 32 x 3mm flat aluminium bar.  Nice that they supply brackets to mount oil cooler high under the propeller shaft / flange.

Thanks Blue, I see you also mounted the water radiator to the engine cases, I suppose it takes weight off the lower cowl and makes removing it easier too.

Yes, that’s correct.

To reduce any possibility of CO and other fumes entering the cabin via the open tubes that the engine mount is attached to I have plugged both tubes with nylon caps.

Hello Blue, I have those tubes blanked off also.

On a related subject, the UK CAA has recently sent aircraft owners a mail stating mandatory fitment of an active O2 detector, I have always fitted one anyway but its a pretty blatant admittance from the authorities that those black dot indicators that aviation suppliers peddled for decades are pretty much useless. (we all knew that really)

does anyone have a pic of their setup?

I'm assuming most people fit them under the seat?
