Blueadventures
Foggy morning but a great flight to settle in the Nynja after its 100 hrly on the engine. 201 hours now and all going great. Need to plan a longer flight to visit somewhere soon. Cheers
Blueadventures
Sundays flight to Shute harbour in the Whitsundays for WUFI day. Includes some images taken by Mike H in his Zenith 750. Shute harbour airstrip in the Whitsundays is a great place to visit, total flight time 2.8 hours.
Blueadventures
Todays flying turned out pretty good considering. First leg was 25 to 28 knots on the nose pretty much, little bumpy to Sarina then ok. Landed at Koumala and had a nice morning tea and catch up. Then over to Cape Palmerston onto the beach to show a mate where I plan to do a week long camping trip sometime next couple of months. At 1300 airbourne again and a nice trip back to Palmyra. Very Smokey and hazy trip back. Mackay ATIS wind 090 / 20 kts so a brush up on a 20 kts cross wind for 36. (Most cross wind for a while; usually get 12 to 15s. The Nynja is good in cross wind so a nice landing; No flap and 55 over the threshold and straighten up on touch down. Cheers.
Blueadventures
Last flight in the Nynja for 2019. Has been a good year and now have 213 hours on the clock and all going great. Looking forward to a few longer touring flights this coming 2020 season. I see the factory in UK have a 'Swift 3 version being approved and the Nynja 600 kg finalisation can't be to far off as well. Safe flights all. Cheers
Blueadventures
Set up the Nynja's 912 Rotax for a dynamic balance of the prop today; was too windy this afternoon so will try in morning (needs light wind for best readings). Look forward to seeing / feeling what difference it makes.
Blueadventures
Took our French designed ''Nynja' for a fly late this afternoon after some light routine service maintenance the past couple of weeks and in readiness for an ANZAC morning fly. Will carry a Poppy, colours of the AFC and RAF Sqn 303 in honour of the gallant military who gave so much. With the propeller dynamically balanced (mates 'DynaVibe') and pretty much vibration free the engine has a real growl power feel. Cheers. Thick late afternoon air is always great to fly around in.

Years ago the first members would land on the drag strip and then they tarmaced the 'return' road and we use that now. 800 meters and most of the time a cross wind as its 18/36.

Blueadventures
Fitted new brake pads and gave them a run-in this afternoon; all good. There was a light shower of rain and a nice rainbow was seen.
Blueadventures
Update for info about doing a dynamic balance on the Nynja's engine (912ULS2 Rotax); Today I fitted the new combined bracket that mounts the optical and accelerator sensors to the centre line of the gearbox shaft; also just used a 10 mm wide reflective strip. Did two runs (first with out weight and one with the weight plus another two verification of reading run ups) and have the result of 0.07 IPS. This required 6 grams of weight. I used '3M' double sided tape to fix inside the spinner backplate. I'll fly with this and do another balance session later on, I'm sure I'll get it to a lesser reading with practice at determining the weight required. I believe that the calculation for determining the weight needs a little getting used to. ( The formula I'm using is hp divided by 10 plus 30 then multiplied by the magnitude. At 5,000 rpm a Rotax 100hp is developing 68.3hp so I use that now in the math. Next time I do it I'll play around with a variety of weights at the location determined and see how that goes. To date done 6 sessions and made two new brackets so want to get some flying in and see how the '3M' tape holds up (I put torque seal on it so will see if movement develops and I check before and after flights. After the next adjustment I'll refit the balance master so should be very sweet then. Also I added a length of cord to the jack handle as is does not fully reach its over centre position and this will allow wrapping around the undercarriage leg and prevent it collapsing while working on the wheel. Cheers

Blueadventures
Had nice conditions over the weekend for an overnighter in thhe trusty Nynja to Donnington Airfield (West of Townsville) where Christian planned a photo shoot of visiting aircraft with the milky way in the background. (Keen to see how they turned out.) A six pack group arrived from destinations like Palmyra Mackay, Heathrow Lethebrook, Longreach and Mareeba and others call in by car from Townsville and others flew in for the breakfast. Clear skies up there and there was light rain when I got back to Palmyra at midday Sunday. All in all a nice trip and the night was not too cold at about 3 degrees. Christian has another weekend planned now in September when I see the dates I'll post the info. alt=Reduced 20200719_063503 - Copy - Copy.jpghttps://www.recreationalflying.com/attachments/reduced-20200719_063503-copy-copy-jpg.54810/[/img] Donnington is well maintained alt=Reduced 20200718_151429 - Copy - Copy.jpghttps://www.recreationalflying.com/attachments/reduced-20200718_151429-copy-copy-jpg.54811/[/img] alt=Reduced 20200718_151437 - Copy - Copy.jpghttps://www.recreationalflying.com/attachments/reduced-20200718_151437-copy-copy-jpg.54812/[/img] alt=Reduced 20200718_162440 - Copy - Copy.jpghttps://www.recreationalflying.com/attachments/reduced-20200718_162440-copy-copy-jpg.54813/[/img] alt=Reduced 20200718_162458 - Copy - Copy.jpghttps://www.recreationalflying.com/attachments/reduced-20200718_162458-copy-copy-jpg.54814/[/img] alt=Reduced 20200718_173923 - Copy - Copy.jpghttps://www.recreationalflying.com/attachments/reduced-20200718_173923-copy-copy-jpg.54815/[/img] alt=Reduced 20200719_101620 - Copy - Copy.jpghttps://www.recreationalflying.com/attachments/reduced-20200719_101620-copy-copy-jpg.54816/[/img] alt=Reduced 20200719_103722 - Copy - Copy.jpghttps://www.recreationalflying.com/attachments/reduced-20200719_103722-copy-copy-jpg.54817/[/img] alt=Reduced 20200719_110241 - Copy - Copy.jpghttps://www.recreationalflying.com/attachments/reduced-20200719_110241-copy-copy-jpg.54818/[/img] Bowen and its Air field alt=Reduced 20200719_111833 - Copy - Copy.jpghttps://www.recreationalflying.com/attachments/reduced-20200719_111833-copy-copy-jpg.54819/[/img] alt=Reduced 20200719_112725 - Copy - Copy.jpghttps://www.recreationalflying.com/attachments/reduced-20200719_112725-copy-copy-jpg.54820/[/img] Proserpine's sugar cane crushing season wind sock. alt=Reduced 20200719_112751 - Copy - Copy.jpghttps://www.recreationalflying.com/attachments/reduced-20200719_112751-copy-copy-jpg.54821/[/img] alt=Reduced 20200719_121158 - Copy - Copy.jpghttps://www.recreationalflying.com/attachments/reduced-20200719_121158-copy-copy-jpg.54822/[/img] alt=Reduced 20200719_121213 - Copy - Copy.jpghttps://www.recreationalflying.com/attachments/reduced-20200719_121213-copy-copy-jpg.54823/[/img]

Blueadventures
This weekend fitted in a great flight to Donnington Airfiled to partake in celebrating 50 years since the first two passengers landed at the newly opened strip in 1970. They reinacted that landing with Brice on the Grumman Tiger from Ayr bringing in the same two blokes and they were met by Christian. Only a few aircraft flew in maybe due to the wx. Our flight was 2.4 from Palmyra taking the long scenic coastal route and landing at Bowen on the way. Then the next day a 2.7 hours return that included landing at Lakeside Airpark to put in 20 liters of extra just in case fuel (Thanks Phil) as the head wind was 20 /22 kts and higher was 28kts so not welcomed. Would have made it home without the stop but better flight with heaps of fuel. 4 other places to get a fuel top up earlier along the way. The local WW2 collectors and vehicle clubs were there. All in all another great flyaway. Should be more and should have more time to attend. Now back to the maintenance fun being an oil change, filter, hoses (5 yearly due next month so will do the oil hose now) then the annual before another flyaway. The Nynja and its Rotax are going great with no issues. Cheers.

Blueadventures
Fantastic! Hi 80 This may be of interest to you - look closely at the purple Savannah on the right of the bottom image as Bill has a small cargo pod under the fuse between the main wheels. It doesn't effect speeds. Cheers. 1

Blueadventures
Hey Mike I have never seen a fuel filter on the pitot for a cover :) I pinched that idea when gliding at Kingaroy. Bugs and wasps can’t get in and the paper element soaks in moisture. Doesn’t help when flying in rain.

Blueadventures
That is very interesting. Did Bill get this custom-made or was this an off-the-shelf cargo pod? Hi 80 Bill has a mould for it. Blueadventures
Replaced the oil hose with the recent engine service (250 hours and almost 5 years) and fuel hoses are next and put silicone tape on ends.
