turboplanner Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 If there is a fat cheque departing from Member's pockets, how would you feel about that as a Member FT?
facthunter Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 If they are using your money, what's there to lose (financially, for them). You would wonder who they took advice from. Nev
robinsm Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 I dont think the president and CEO give a toss, and the board, I think, has been blindsided and presented a fait acompli.. Just my opinion.
fly_tornado Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 I learnt not to question the actions of our leaders, I just accept that it must be done. I suppose the "Win Win" for the RAA is that they win the "legal proceeding held against them" and "stop the means by which people bring the RAA into disrepute" Seems like a waste of scarce resources but what do I know.
David Isaac Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 And just what legal 'case' are you referencing FT?
horsefeathers Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Hang about.... I am really missing something here. What legal threat is there to close this site? Has ANYONE (besides perhaps Ian) seen an actual threat/solicitors letter/tea leaf reading from the RAA board, CEO or maintenance man??? Under what grounds could this site be closed??? I suppose serious defamation could cause an apology to be made (along with lots of cash) and posted on the front page, but I seriously wonder how the RAA could cause this site to be closed. I ask after re-reading this thread, and while there seems to be a lot of what ifs, supposition, and plain guess work, the facts seem to be very light on the ground. 1
Guernsey Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Isn't the 'one against them' in reference to Ian's membership and hence his pilot certificate renewel? If so, what has that got to do with this site?
Admin Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Guys, please get off the site issue...as said before, steps were taken some time ago to ensure this site ALWAYS remains available to you...as previously stated in this thread (post 127) 6
kaz3g Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 What surprises me is that Slater and Gordon are Public Liability specialists, and one thing I've learnt over the years is that if you want to improve your chances of winning you get a lawyer who specialists in the subject at hand. They would probably say they specialise in negligence actions generally, TP. They run class actions but are also known in the trade as "ambulance chasers" because they do a lot of personal injury stuff, too. They do some of their work on a no win - no fee basis. But they don't take on matters they don't think they have much chance of winning, whether the client is paying upfront or not because they want to preserve their reputation as successful (and they are) litigation lawyers. ave8rr Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 A bit of info has been published in this newsletter: http://www.wattsbridge.com.au/files/news_bvsac/bvsac1209_september2012.pdf Well worth a read. 3
turboplanner Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 If you were looking for hundreds of thousands, that would be a good place to start.
Riley Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 A bit of info has been published in this newsletter:http://www.wattsbridge.com.au/files/news_bvsac/bvsac1209_september2012.pdf Well worth a read. The referenced BVSAC newsletter IS very much worthy of a read and thank you for identifying same. By anyone's standards, the RAA higher paid help (with a few exceptions) are causing health problems to members in areas of both indigestion and diarhoea with the big boy's seeming inability to cope. I can't swallow what they're doing/not doing on my behalf and what they are doing generally gives me the $hits! Members please, please ensure that your proxies are correctly registered and lodged in good time for the AGM. This untenable situation cannot go on if my, and your, recreational flying privileges are to be sustained. I expectorate! A seriously concerned Riley 7

ave8rr Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Great stuff Ian, It should never of had to involve solicitors! RAAus is there to look after Recreational flying on behalf of CASA. Cheers
David Isaac Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Great news ... Someone finally had a reality check ..... BUT ... Are you implying it may be a conditional acceptance. I was wondering why you needed to check with your solicitor.
eightyknots Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Hi AllI would like to advise that I am now a member of RAAus More to follow once my Solicitor has reviewed it all FANTASTIC NEWS!
