pilotdave69 Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Hey all, Yesterday was another first, solo in C172 at Bathurst, after 2 years of flying Jab 230 and 160, have moved onto GA for my PPL.! Basically a conversion ,after 3 hours instruction, instructor was happy to let me solo after completing relevant theory exams etc.! It was a great day for it also, not a breath of air, pretty good day! CW Flying at Bathurst now teach GA as well as RAA, using Bathurst Aeroclubs C172. A little different to the Jab, but fun all the same! Dave 3
Piet Fil Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Good Stuff Dave, Well done on your second first solo??? Enjoy Phil 1
furio Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Hey Dave, fantastic stuff. Keep up the good work. Always good to fly out at ybth. Cheers. 1
Compulsion Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Congratulations Dave. Chris has helped me a lot with advice and introductions even though I live in Adelaide. Well done on going GA. 1
Guest Howard Hughes Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Welcome to the World of 'poor GA pilots'.
Mick Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Congrats! Did it feel lonely up there with so many empty seats? 2
Tomo Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Easy aren't they! Once you get the hang of the speeds and where trim needs to be for each the old 172 is such an honest beauty. What model is it? Well done! 1
pilotdave69 Posted August 29, 2012 Author Posted August 29, 2012 Thanks everyone, sure feels bigger and heavier! Tomo its a 172 p, 1999, 180 hp Fuel inj.. VH-BAC. I do agree, speeds, trim, never had to trim so much!! lol. Easier to land i think, Jabs so much lighter! Like them both for their own reasons! Mick, spacious all right. 1
Roy Wales Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Congrats on the C172 solo. I got my PPL in a C172 (VH-MGZ) out of Canberra.
pilotdave69 Posted September 6, 2012 Author Posted September 6, 2012 Roy, i working down ACT at moment, might do some training out of Canberra, would be good experience with controlled airspace..
Roy Wales Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Hope you get a chance to fly out of Canberra. Not sure of the situation there anymore with flight training schools. I completed mine in 2002. Controlled airspace and operating around RPT is a good experience. Nav ex's also included Bankstown.
robinsm Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Check out canberra aviation, the flying school at the Canberra airport. www.canberraaviation.com.au
