turboplanner Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 Ah Yes SS - they were all drawings simulating what was supposed to happen. Before we start tooling up for a component now we can get 3D drawings that good in CAD, and work them around to ensure we have clearances, minimise assembly time etc. There's even one printer than can produce a 3D component like a bracket, so you can print a few pieces and see how they'd go together as forged or cast steel/aluminium components. What got me about that flight is how, when the airbags landed they could have the machine upright after all that bouncing and rolling.
