Guest Andys@coffs Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 People If you cant make the AGM and want to vote on the propsed changes thenyou have up until 10amEST friday to make your views known in the form of a vote. Your Proxy vote needs to get to RAA HQ in advance of the AGM and given the realities of snail mail you would need to be in a capital city and send your mail by"absolutely has to be there next day" means and it must be sent this morning. Where is this proxy form? It was included with the RAA magazine "Sport Pilot" 2 ago as a seperate A3 sheet behind the address label. If you have lost it and want to create your own then there is a doc file here that you can use. If you want to identify a proxy that you can be sure will be there on the day and who must vote in accordance with your wishes, please identify the Chairman of the 2012 AGM as your proxy. There must be a chairman appointed even if its just prior to the meeting commencing. As such you wont need a 2nd. A better alternate to snail mail given the lateness of this post is to use a FAXto 02 6280 4775 to deliver your proxy to RAAus HQ directly. Why vote, well the reality is that for each person that votes no we need another 3 to vote yes to have any chance of the resolutions being accepted. The reasons why a subset of members have put forward these special resolutions is explained here and here and here Initially in the magazine there was a question over the resolutions legality, however the RAA board asked the RAA lawyers to review and identify if there were any issues with the resolutions as they are and they have responded that they are entirely in accord with the A.C.T legislation on which our association is based. That advice here Please, please........ if at all possible come to the AGM and make your feelings known. There have been a series of events over the last couple of years that have many members concerned, including myself. The AGM details including agenda can be found here So what are we looking to have answered at the AGM? There are likely to be a number of questions asked, myself and David Isaac have already submited questions to the board notifying them that we intend to ask these at the AGM and as such we want complete answers on the day. The questions can be found here and here. So in summary, please vote using the proxy form and do it right now and send it as soon as you can by express mail or by FAX. or come along to the AGM and make a good association even better. You have until 10am this Friday to turn your view into something that counts. Regards Andy Saywell
Guest Andys@coffs Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Shags The only written guidance is provided in the constitution which can be found here and specifically is Para 28. The whole AGM, GM's purpose and procedures are covered from Para 21 through 30. I havent been to a previous AGM (all I wanted to do previously was fly and ignore all the politics) but feel that its pretty important that we go to this one. Regards Andy
rankamateur Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Who is the chairman I have entrusted my votes too?
Guest Andys@coffs Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Well the constitution says that the president will be chairman, or in his abscense a member of the exec, or failing that a member that is present. The chairman, or indeed anyone identified as a proxy has no ability to choose or not choose to submit your vote, the fact that the proxy forms are sent to the RAAus HQ first I believe means that your votes are entered and validated if the nominated proxy turns up at the meeting. Furthermore, I cant speak for everyone, but if I was a proxy and a member voted against the resolution I put up, I'd do all that I could to ensure that the vote as it is, is counted, after all this is about doing what the membership wants and the more that are involved in the vote either for or against, the greater the chance that we do what the membership wants. I personally hope that will align with what I want, but if not then I have failed in my communications, or Im simply out of touch...... Andy
David Isaac Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Well said Andy and thanks for your support.
rankamateur Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 I like the way both of you are standing and fighting for what you believe in, instead of taking your marbles and going home. It must get disheartening being on a board that isn't doing what you can see that it should be for the members that put it in place, but walking away does nothing to make any improvement to the situation. I guess our board members can only tolerate so much before they walk.
Guest Andys@coffs Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 I personally believe the question of insurance had much to do with the resignations before the natural time. Im happy to work on a not for profit organisation to make things better for members (of which Im part). However the moment that as a result of poor or no insurance there is suddenly personal risk to me and more importantly my family (who have NO PART to play in this) then I'm out of there, risk vs return is suddenly all wrong Andy
rankamateur Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Family first even if it keeps you grounded.
cscotthendry Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Given the number of questions and the possibility of long rambling answers, the Q&A session is likely to be a long one, so I'm wondering what the time frame will likely be for the vote.
Guest Andys@coffs Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 The Special resolution discussion and voting is agenda item 7 and the questions from the floor are agenda item 8. The value of agenda item 8 will depend to a certain extent on the outcome of 7 I would assume. If the 7 outcome isnt what we want then I suspect that people will not be suprised if the A part is as poor as it has reportedly been in past years, focusing more on A for avoidance than A for answer.... I might have a snack and a drink...and maybe a tent/sleeping bag with me as I too expect the Questions and Answer sesion to be long, especially if the A part doesnt answer the Q part appropriately....... Andy
cazza Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Runciman told David I that the answers to his questions will be tabled. Hope we get a copy of them before the meeting. Andy, what time will you be arriving and can you make yourself known to us? Cazza
Guest Andys@coffs Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Im leaving Coffs at 5am driving up with my better half.......I hope to be there around 10:30am...... first agenda item for me will be to try and gauge how many members look to be there and then catch up with Don and in doing that Im sure I'll catch up with most of you guys as well....failing that my mobile is 0414962648. Andy
Wayne T Mathews Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 Todays the day Guys... If you're in the area and can make it, please go and have your say... The rest of us are waiting with baited breathe... Good luck Don, Andy and David I... I'm not a religious man, but I like to think the late David Hunt is watching too. Let us not forget the effort he put in as well to correct our course... 3
David Isaac Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 I'd like to double like that statement Wayne. David Hunt was adamant that we put these four special resolutions up at this AGM, God rest his soul. 2
