J170 Owner Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Hi, sorry to be a pain but could folks make their titles to threads etc more descriptive? Things like 'Instructor required' or 'spare tyre' or 'snake on a plane' mean little. We (users) should be able to get a good idea of what the thread is about just by reading the title. As an example, "should I carry a spare tyre while flying" is better than 'spare tyre' as a title. Just my thoughts. PS : why does tyre show as a spelling mistake? It is the way I have spelled tyre since at least 1960. Tire means to become tired. Different thing, unless computers have been dumbed down as well.... 2
djpacro Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Agreed. This thread should have "tired spare tyre" in the title. 3
horsefeathers Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 think this thread should be retired
Gentreau Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 think this thread should be retired Why, did it get a puncture ?
horsefeathers Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Why, did it get a puncture ? nah, but it just seems a bit flat.......
Herm Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 I would tread lightly on this subject! Not that I want to pull up on anyone, but I would not like anyone to slam on and end up with a skid mark
horsefeathers Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 ...... but I would not like anyone to slam on and end up with a skid mark And end up with a black mark against you????
turboplanner Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 A skid mark in a Jab? Now that IS aviation humour
Guest Howard Hughes Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 This clearly should have been titled 'rantings of a grumpy old bugger'... For me, if the title doesn't interest me, I don't read it! PS: If that is the worst thing you have to complain about in life, perhaps things aren't going so bad!
aj_richo Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 I've created a monster.... Again... :) 1
Guest Andys@coffs Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 A skid mark in a Jab? Now that IS aviation humour Actually a skid mark in a jab is pretty simple.....anytime your moving sideways ...you'll skid...in fact in multiple places!!
kgwilson Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 PS : why does tyre show as a spelling mistake? It is the way I have spelled tyre since at least 1960. Tire means to become tired. Different thing, unless computers have been dumbed down as well.... If your spell checker shows tyre as a mistake it is because it is set to English US not English UK or English Australia. US spell checkers are usually the default as most browsers are US owned or at least US based. I use Chrome which gives all 3 options.
Bryon Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 I thought Chrome only had one option..........bright and shiny
turboplanner Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Possumface really is making a good point. Howard you've missed three of four cracker threads lately
eightyknots Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Tired tyres require retreading or retiring. 2

J170 Owner Posted September 27, 2012 Author Posted September 27, 2012 Er, Do you mean ' spelt ' ? ? Bob According to my sources, spelled or spelt are both acceptable.
biggles Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Er, Do you mean ' spelt ' ? ?Bob It can be spelteded either way. Alan. As one 'old bloke' to another , who obviously has nothing better to do than waste time on this forum. I really think that ' spollen ' would be more appropriate . Bob
