Kyle Communications Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Does anyone know of a report on CH 10 news about a missing aircraft from kilcoy
av8vfr Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 I heard a report that it was returning from Monto to YCAB . 6 PoB and possibly a historical aircraft? Did the DH84 stay that long?
Kyle Communications Posted October 1, 2012 Author Posted October 1, 2012 With 6 Pob maybe the Dragon....I hope all are safe...bloody sickening news Police and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) are searching for a plane missing near the Sunshine Coast. AMSA has confirmed they received a request for assistance and the plane's emergency beacon was activated just before 3:00pm. It is understood the vintage light aircraft has six people on board and there are grave concerns for their safety. AMSA has sent a helicopter to search the area near where the EPIRB was activated, about 45 nautical miles north-west of Caboolture. Police are coordinating a ground search and more aircraft will join the search this evening.
Kyle Communications Posted October 1, 2012 Author Posted October 1, 2012 It was still flying yesterday when I left

av8vfr Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 I think the yellow AN-2 would also be possible, but I don't think it went to Monto??
Kyle Communications Posted October 1, 2012 Author Posted October 1, 2012 CH10 just said red biplane so it must be the Dragon
Kyle Communications Posted October 1, 2012 Author Posted October 1, 2012 It would have been on its way back to Ycab
XP503 Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 OH NO...... Oh man I hope this ends well...... Reports showed it was the maroon and silver Dragon/rapide machine.......
hendonguy Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 http://www.news.com.au/national/search-on-for-missing-plane-between-kingaroy-and-maleny/story-fndo4ckr-1226486050351 Another report talking about fuel
av8vfr Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 AGL Rescue pilot indicated they entered cloud on CH10 news
Kyle Communications Posted October 1, 2012 Author Posted October 1, 2012 We stopped at Gympie airport to have lunch today as we usually do there were a couple of aircraft doing low level circuits around 500 ft agl..the cloud base looked around 1500 at best and it just got worse with rain as I drove home...it was really bad weather south of Gympie and constant spitting and rain between the new highway just south all the way back to here just south of Ycab..... I am hoping he found a field somewhere but its all tiger country and mountains south of there but at least a few valleys.
Hongie Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Win news said a beacon had been activated.. Hopefully all get out ok
Mick Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 From news.com.au - A search area between Kingaroy and Maleny has been established. The search is being hampered by thick, low cloud. An AGL action rescue helicopter spokeswoman said the helicopter was tasked to join the search shortly after the beacon was activated. "It has now been sometime since there was any communication from the pilot and the beacon is no longer active," the spokeswoman said. The Australian Rescue Coordination Centre is currently establishing the search area. The beacon no longer active does not sound good, will make the search more difficult.
Compulsion Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Once switched on the beacon should last a long time and wouldn't switch off unless switched off or flat.
Bubbleboy Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 I am the least religious person you will ever meet but Christ I hope everything is ok........I feel ill
Tomo Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 A Dornier is due around 7pm apparently to help in the search. If anyone has any information regarding who was on board and you're willing to pass it on, could you PM me or something so I can pass it on? Have had a few calls asking if I knew anything.
Guest Andys@coffs Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 People If you havent ever looked up "SPOT" as a potential adjunct to a becaon then now might be the time to do it. I intend to get one myself shortly Andy
pete8862 Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Just looked on a site called plane finder, looks like the Dornier is doing a seach pattern now 1
Kyle Communications Posted October 1, 2012 Author Posted October 1, 2012 The Dornia is almost over fraser island now must have stopped the search it did a small search by the look of its track earlier
hendonguy Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 The area they are looking should have mobile coverage
CrayonBox Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 No look at flight aware, dornier is still flying in the rescue area.
mattbutton Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 It's not the AN2, the owner is at Kingaroy flying drones in the Outback challenge.
