shu77 Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 I have been reading a little about the Pioneer 300 recently and I was wondering if someone could explain why the RA-AUS MTOW is listed 544Kg rather than the 560Kg that the frame supports. Is it to do with the fact it does not reach to 600Kg so its not eligible under para 1.8, or is there some other reason?
Mick Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Could be that what you are reading has not been updated since standard RAAus has been lifted to 600kg?
shu77 Posted October 1, 2012 Author Posted October 1, 2012 I got the 544kg from Alpines website, and an old reference on the RA-Aus site so its possible
cscotthendry Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 I think it is determined by the weight that the manufacturer certified it with RA-Aus at. My aircraft was certified at 540Kg rather than the 544Kg standard weight. It's a bit annoying though, as recently, the manufacturer tested the wings to +6g -3g at 600Kg, but I'm still limited to MTOW 540Kg.
DrZoos Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Just updating this incase anyone reads it, but the new Pioneer 300,s since about 2012 are in fact 560kg .. as long as they have the new nose wheel...see http://alpiaviation.co.nz/images/web/aircraft/rtf/pioneer-300-kite/page-underside-of-kite-showing-gills.jpg
