A C-17 Globemaster III headed for MacDill Air Force Base on Friday afternoon landed “inadvertently” at the much smaller Peter O. Knight GA airport located just a few miles away, according to airport authorities.

3400Ft runway versus 11,000Ft

I can imagine plenty of red faces and de-briefings...

Though it was said there would be red faces at the de-brief, I am sure the controller would have a few questions to answer as well.

Vectoring them in on the wrong airport.

During the landing the controller had every chance to say "Wrong airport - GO ROUND!" but didn't.

It's no wonder they can't win a war, if the air force can't find the right aerodrome at home what chance have they got in Afghanistan.

I think you you should sign up as their advisor. They could do with a bloke with you knowledge

considering its size, it didnt use much runway at all, come to think of it, im sure some Cessna 152 pilots use more runway..

It was a really short take off run for such a big bird. I think your Savvy could do better ....even on one engine.
