As far as we know theirs (Babalyon/Sumeria) was the first written language and the first written calculations. Because their system used marks pressed into clay tablets that were then baked we still have thousands of their records was available to us today. Unfortunately no one in the team of George 'mission accomplished' had the nous, or the foresight to protect the biggest and most repository of these anchent artifacts from the looters.
