winsor68 Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 My Dad did his Ra-Aus conversion flying a Drifter... much of this was off Rainbow Beach itself. What better way to train IMO.

ExJourno Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 I am starting to think that it isn't illegal unless some upstart complains...
eightyknots Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 I am starting to think that it isn't illegal unless some upstart complains... Hopefully, it stays that way. Just don't run over any sunbathers and the privilege may be kept for a long time.
Ballpoint 246niner Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Beaches are not ALA's- well 99 % of them anyway. Emergencies are a different matter. Better have the MAYDAY on tape for your defence, otherwise the joyride to look like the brochure may cost you, I know of at least 3 beach landings that went pear shaped in the last 12 months. Good idea at the time. aNd don't worry I've landed on Conway many times in the past, they used to run drag races there as well.
dazza 38 Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 I got my certificate with Skyfox flight training in 1998. Back then they had permission to land on Bribie Is, on the beach. Which we did(Instructor/student). That was a while ago.Things would have changed since then I think.
