seb7701 Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Just saw what could well be a decent performing aeroplane for the money on ebay. Eagle X-TS for $35,000. Ad http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Eagle-X-TS-2-Seat-Airplane-Sell-or-Swap-for-boat-car-caravan-WHY-/251163282997?pt=AU_Aircraft&hash=item3a7a7f8e35 refers. Specs seem to indicate 650kg MTOW. Would this be a candidate for RAA then?
fly_tornado Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 I wouldn't think so, you will be overweight fully loaded loosing 50kgs is a lot.
seb7701 Posted November 2, 2012 Author Posted November 2, 2012 Yep - not sure where you would lose that sort of kg. Shame - looks like a goer!
dazza 38 Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 That one was built here I think.Would be good.
ave8rr Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 I think if you look at the weights on these aircraft that you can't carry a pilot and passenger and take on full fuel. RAus would loose a further 50kg. Not sure about stall speed etc though.
Sapphire Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Think that was built down the road from me. The Eagle company moved and then went out of business years ago.
Guest Maj Millard Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 They are not a bad little machine, and get along quite well. There is also one sitting at Shute Harbour. It was in the hangar, then out on the grass, then moved down by the hangars where it still sits. Don't know if it is for sale or not. Have a friend who did some time in one and says they fly quite well. The company moved to WA and was then sold overseas................................................................Maj...
Deskpilot Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Downward view must be very limited by that 'Cunard' wing. Different but.
ave8rr Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Think that was built down the road from me. The Eagle company moved and then went out of business years ago. I think the manufacturing rights were sold to Malaysian interests. Cheers
Sapphire Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Has a stall speed of 45kts and 130kts max which is not all that fast with 125 hp. Probably could lic it RAA as a single seater till they raise the mtow again. If you are the first one to register you may have lots of work. Engine is 12 years old and may leak a lot.
seb7701 Posted November 3, 2012 Author Posted November 3, 2012 Yeah, bugger for that 50kg. It was an early model a/c like and old cessna or something, at least ditching a few of the ancient instruments for newer ones for help, but not to the tune of 50kg. Not sure what else could be shaved off. Same price as many Jabs but without a Jab engine.
Sapphire Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 [quote="seb7701, post: 250149, member: 219 Not sure what else could be shaved off. I think we are going to encourage a new generation of pilots with bald heads and weighing 30kg after massive dieting.
dazza 38 Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 They are still made by this mob www.ctrm.com.my in malaysia
