Had the best day's flying in ages yesterday. After nearly a three month, uni-enforced break I've been back out flying almost every weekend for the last several weeks. Even though the weather hasn't been the kindest, it's just been so great to be back flying again!

Yesterday was good though, I got a couple of flights in in the morning, had a break when it was so hot in the afternoon and went up again at around 5pm when it was smoother. I'm pretty much at the stage where it's just going back through my records, seeing what's been signed off, what we still have to cover and what I just need to practice before the test!

Yesterday we were revising steep turns, stalls and incipients. Pretty fun, I reckon! 022_wink.gif.2137519eeebfc3acb3315da062b6b1c1.gif I went up and did 0.7 with my instructor and was happy with the way it all went. Haven't done steep turns in ages, so it took a bit of practice before I could get it back to where I wasn't losing too much height.

Then he let me loose for some practice on my own. I must admit I was pretty apprehensive of doing stalls and like on my own -- I'm perfectly happy with my instructor on board (in fact, he's called me a hoon before....augie.gif.8d680d8e3ee1cb0d5cda5fa6ccce3b35.gif), but when it comes to flying by myself I tend to be a lot more cautious. Had a bit of trouble co-ordinating the power with my turns and it all went a bit weird the second time around; I'm not sure if it was because the air wasn't as smooth or it was just me.....most like the latter, I'm afraid! But I did see some improvement in the end. Had to talk myself through stalls pretty much the whole time though. Didn't do anything drastic, mainly just trying to convince myself that see, it's not so bad! I knew that I knew how to recover, I'd only just done it an hour ago......I think it was that I was very conscious of the fact that I was on my own and there was no one to recover for me if it all went nasty. So I spent a bit of time on those yesterday, and when I went home I really felt like I had taken a little step further and acheived something.

So getting closer to licence all the time! 029_crazy.gif.9816c6ae32645165a9f09f734746de5f.gif

When you are by yourself in the beginning the biggest fear is you will stuff it up. You will make stuff ups but your flying skill now will be at a standard that you can rescue it easily otherwise he wouldn't have let you go by yourself. It really is just a confidence thing...you will just get better and better. I ahve 50 hours now and sometimes my confidence feels a little shaky but you do it and bingo....you say to yourself..what was I so worried about that was easy...it truly is just being more confident in your own ability

Good luck with it and do much more flying while you can

OH and don't let that Tommo hoon lead you astray 008_roflmao.gif.692a1fa1bc264885482c2a384583e343.gif
