cooperplace Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 I spotted what looks like a strip on the SA Dept of Transport map, and can also see it on google earth. East-west. Does anyone know anything about this strip? thanks
jamel Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Do you mean Huntfield? That is north south though! It is a private strip I think, bit rough, I have only done a couple of touch and goes on it! You can Google it up on "ourairports"
Ryanm Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Huntfield is pretty close... as far as I'm aware there is no other strip between Adelaide and Aldinga.
cooperplace Posted December 27, 2012 Author Posted December 27, 2012 no, it's not Huntfield. It runs parallel to Sullivan Ave.
Ryanm Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Not the model aeroplane club O'Halloran Hill? Corner of Majors Rd and Lonsdale Rd....
FlyingVizsla Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Are you looking at the road to the helipad at -35.1143 138.4842 ? About 800m long and 3m wide with the odd tree/shrub within 2m of centreline? Port Stanvac Oil Refinery. Could have been an airstrip in times past.

Yes, it looks like it was an airstrip once. Those shrubs would make it interesting.........
