facthunter Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 A lot of women were employed by Douglas and others to assemble the planes for the war effort. They may have been the majority. Since there is not a hair out of place and the lighting is perfect these "staged" shots were used for promo's etc. Very clear images on kodak's probably latest colour film. The large output changed the direction of the war and were allocated under a "Lend Lease" programme, which gave Britain and others a formidable debt at the end of the war. The Ruskies did not pay. Sapphire Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Those 4 by 5 inch transparancies would have more resolution than any electronic camera on the market. Where are all those girls today wanting to work on a/c. Fly all day and have the wife maintain your a/c at night.
dazza 38 Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 I hope they wore ear plugs (no shown in the photos, staged like Nev mentioned) when rivetting. Otherwise they would have been deaf by the wars end.
