john mitchell Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Can anyone tell me the variance in running costs of a Jab 230 V's Jab160? Is the 230 worth the extra purchase cost? What are the benefits over the 160?
Guest Error404 Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Speed and carrying capacity. Not necessarily weight but size of the cargo. The 160 will fit bigger pax and the 230 in terms of accommodation is based on the pre-160 smaller fuselage. More fuel in the 230 around 23lph and more cylinders to overhaul at 500 hours tbo :-)
john mitchell Posted February 2, 2013 Author Posted February 2, 2013 Thanks Jan, really!!....bigger pax in the 160?? ok will have to re-think then! Cheers!
Guest Error404 Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Actually the difference in passenger (and pilot) accommodation is massive. On the other hand the amount of room in a 230 is significant. You can fit two full size racing bikes in the back (wheels off) plus other kit. Very handy. Just not great in terms of legal payload. Consider upgrading to a 430 with a PPL as the mtow goes from 600 to 760kg with the potential for additional passengers. All that on the same 6 cylinder engine and same fuel burn! Food for thought. Try fitting even a single bike in a 172 and I'm not talking foldup either!

Guest Error404 Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Bikes are ok, no issues there. They don't weigh much so you are all good there. Good idea to strado them down as you say.
