Guest Maj Millard Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Just finished the book 'The best I can be' by Allana Arnot. Allana was the wife of Australian Aerobatic champion Nigel Arnot, and all was going well until she was in a Cessna 210 that crashed in rugged country west of Sydney, whilst searching for another lost aircraft. She and the other rear seat passenger survived, with the other four on board not being so lucky. A great Australian aviation story, of huge determination and courage by Allana. A MUST read...highly recommended !!!!.............................................Maj...
winsor68 Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 I bet that reading about the accident bought on some serious emotions for you Maj. Sounds like a great read... Will have to look out for it at the local Library.
Guest Maj Millard Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 It did actually Don, she certainly doesn't hold back with the details either. I could sure relate to the back pain she had to endure until they were rescued. On Monday I went and sat in the rear seat of a similar C210 here at Shute, and I was amazed she got out at all. Not a whole heap of room back there, and about half of what I had in the back of the C182. There were a lot of people around in the 70s with her sort of energy, and there just seems to be less of them these days. A ballsy lady for sure, and I would love to meet her someday..............................................Maj...
Guest ozzie Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 I was working out of Camden when those accidents happened. Tragic time for all. She had a long difficult battle not only healing her body but rebuilding her life. Glad to see life giving her a better deal.
