zodiac3813 Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 The latest photo of the Swift's progress... skin on! 2 1
zodiac3813 Posted February 9, 2013 Author Posted February 9, 2013 Previous trial fit of the wing frames, flaps and ailerons: now ready for covering. 1
damkia Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Looks good. I have always wondered if it would be possible to cover an aircraft in a clear mylar-like covering giving a "flying skeleton" appearance?
rankamateur Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Make for a much more thoruogh preflight inspection but the visibility in the circiut might be an issue.
greybeard Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 And you'd have to think twice about going for a streaker flight 1
Hongie Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Make for a much more thoruogh preflight inspection but the visibility in the circiut might be an issue. everything appears black after a bit of a distance anyways :) do it!
sfGnome Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 The Swift's a nice enough looking plane with it's skin on, but it looks like a flying bedstead when it's naked! 1
503 Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Clear mylar....Is that the one Wonder Woman had
rankamateur Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 She probrably would have if created today.
cscotthendry Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Wow. It's looking good. How many more sleeps?
gregrobertson Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 See Jim the fuse fabric wasn't too hard after all. Looks like you have done a nice job. Give me a call before you cover the wings there are a few little tricks that are handy to know. Greg.
zodiac3813 Posted March 18, 2013 Author Posted March 18, 2013 Oil cooler and radiator ducting, with special thanks to my clever friend Owen ... 1
gregrobertson Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 You and Owen do very nice work. Looks like a clever Oil cooler and radiator mount. You should be airborne very soon. Great Job!!!!!!! Greg.
zodiac3813 Posted March 18, 2013 Author Posted March 18, 2013 I missed out the ducting photo I think... 1
Friarpuk Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 You'll enjoy flying her as much as building her! Congrats Friarpuk
zodiac3813 Posted May 4, 2013 Author Posted May 4, 2013 Thanks everyone, here are a couple more photos of the build . Thanks again Greg for all your support! Hope to fly up and visit some day in the not too distant future. For anyone in the market for a quick build, value-for-money, robust kit aircraft: I can recommend the Skyranger... 8 months spare time from arrival to completion! Cheers, Jim. 3
matt walsh Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Jim, I'm impressed with your work and the plane is looking smart. How many hours have you spent to date on the construction (approximate), or when did you commence construction?
