viewfromright
A group of us are flying "up north" this winter and high on our "wish list" is Broome. And as we all know Broome is a CTA. Does any one out there have any suggestions as to landing areas close to Broome that are RAA friendly. Thanks in advance ! John
Head in the clouds
When did that change? Broome's always been CTAF as far as I know... When you get there you'll see why it doesn't quite need to be CTA... http://www.airport-data.com/world-airports/YBRM-BME/ If you want somewhere else the local cattle stations are visitor friendly if you phone ahead. Head in the clouds
????? YBRMCurrent ERSA - Class D - outside TWR HR becomes Class G - TWR HR may change at short notice - normal HRS 2315 - 1145 Yup, it's changed, must be getting enough asian flights to justify it at last. WA is UTC plus 7 IIRC so that's 06:15 to 18:15 local. Here's the link to the next issue of ERSA starting Mar 7th - http://www.airservicesaustralia.com/aip/pending/ersa/FAC_YBRM_7-Mar-2013.pdf I'd guess it's likely that TWR wouldn't operate those hours very often unless Broome has changed heaps since I lived there, so I'd give them a call and see what the actual ops are like. Otherwise you'll have to get in and out early or late in the day. Don't forget to plan a trip up to Cape Leveque while you're up there, nice place. WA is UTC +8. Broome Tower usually on from 0700 local each day until dark or after. Derby is CTAF and would probably be the next best option.
