Windfall Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Good morning, I've decided to act on a fascination I've developed for airships/lighter than air travel and have just joined the Recreational Flying community. I was wondering if there were any airships or active airship clubs operating in or around Brisbane? I've tried contacting the Queensland Balloon and Airship Club but can't get through on the number listed (only point of contact) and the voicemail is full. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated - thank you! Windfall
cscotthendry Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Windfall: If you find any info about this, please share it. I too would like to know about whether airships could fly under the RAAus auspices. I think an airship would be a LOT of fun to fly/own. One potential disadvantage I found out about airships is that helium is VERY hard to contain effectively and it can permeate most materials that are light enough for aircraft use. Because of that, the running costs (ie helium purchase) could get a bit expensive.
