As far as I am aware it is still on -- at least, there's been no e-mail out to the club or anyone as of yet, and the website is still advertising it as on. I expect we'll hear in the next day or so if anything is to change.

It'd be a real shame if it had to be canned two years in a row!

The local weather is forecasting wind (34kph) and showers.....not looking good. That sort of wind is well beyond my capabilities in my tiny aircraft.

Yeah I am still driving down either way. Haven't been to the airfield for so long and would like some time socializing even if it means sitting in a hanger due Wx just chatting away the time. cheers

CLIFTON FLY IN is ON

See below from Trevor Bange:

VERY interested aviators

Last Saturday the Clifton airfield had 75 mm of rain, on top of the other 80

mm of rain on Thursday. As a result 250 meters of runway was covered with

water.

On Monday we drove on the strip and Tuesday, yesterday, we mowed and rolled

the entire runway.

The condition of the strip is now perfect.

Those who have not flown in before, you will find the strip is green and all

the paddock surrounding the strip are also green. The airfield is adjacent

to the bitumen road.

Dust off your wings and make this a weekend of entertainment at Clifton.

It would be nice if you could contact us before Saturday to give us an

indication of how many are planning to come for catering purposes Saturday

night and Sunday.

See you in a couple of days.

Since I haven't yet completed my CH701 I will unfortunately be driving and probably only either Saturday or Sunday depending which day my son is available. Thanks for all the information.

Hey, are you going on either of the days? Not sure what I'm doing yet, but I reckon if the weather is respectable I might drop over, either Saturday or after the meeting on Sunday.

Fly in is still ON, see the following message from Trevor Bange last night:

Interested aviators,

The Clifton fly in is still on, the strip is dry and firm.

The forecast is looking good with light easterly winds forecast.

If anyone is interested, Ches Priebbenow will be discussing issues with RAA

between 1030 and 1100 on Sunday morning in the club hangar.

If you have any questions or want to discuss anything , come along and have

a chat. I may not be available for the session as I could be involved with

airfield activities, unless it goes "quiet".

Ches and I went to the general meeting in Canberra in February.

Fly in early on the Sunday.

See you over the weekend.

Trevor

  • The way my local weather is looking, I think I may come on over on my bike. TTF tells me 15 kts, the other tells me 27 kph gusts to 39. (at Oakey)

My son thinks he may have lost a fuelcard, dropped it out of his pocket, on the field somewhere. Should anyone happen to find it would they please ring 0412144489. Thankyou and hope today goes well for all of you, unfortunately I could only make it early yesterday when the weather was crap and no-one had yet arrived.

Ahh Peter, my little 120 was there even if I wasn't, well done Pete,GREAT SHOT!! glad you made it, we're using any good weather to get our students back in the air. We almost had wet enough conditions over the last 3 weeks to apply for float plane endorsement at YCAB!!

Well done Trev- you once again pull off the impossible in spite of the weather!

Was a fairly good day for comiting aviation, unfortunate to hear you guys over on parts of the Coast couldn't make it over due Wx. About 50 aircraft were present throughout the day and great to see some familiar faces among the crowd to. Just a few from Today.

Cheers

Great to catch up with a few there this afternoon. Got to fly around in a J200 which was good fun, looked well organised and it was a great day for it.
