Patrick Normoyle Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 This is a post to the bloke who had the partial engine failure on departure from The Avalon Airshow, it was the Sunday afternoon, the aircraft was a Gazelle, the pilot got airborne to about 200ft still over the runway the engine didn't maintain full power. This fella landed straight ahead on the runway, after assessing the problem, he felt it was resolved and requested to line up for departure, while back tracking the engine problem reoccurred, instead of pushing the situation he made the right decision and overnight-ed at Avalon. As the air traffic controller on the other end of the radio, it was great to see a pilot aviate, communicate and when in doubt he too the safe and smart option to double check and ensure his aircraft was right to fly. Congratulations and well done. 4 5 2
planedriver Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Sound like good judgement to me. If there was more of this attitude, this thread wouldn't have so many sad posts. 1 3
nomadpete Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Its nice to see a happy ending on this thread. Thanks for reporting a "non accident". It doesn't have to be an accident or incident to offer a lesson in safety. We still can learn from this example. 1 2
