Captain Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 G'day All, Thought you might like to see some photos from Natfly on Wednesday afternoon. Temp was about 34 C, blowing 15 - 20 knots gusting 25 knots, exactly and consistantly right down 36. Hope you like 'em. There is a line of thunderstorms on the way to us maybe 3 - 5 hours west and a change behind that, so tomorrow looks a bit suss. That's Mr H's camper in photo 4. Regards Geoff 1 1
biggles Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Thanks for that Captain, first time in ten years we haven't been able to make it . Bob 1
kgwilson Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Good to see some early pics. Keep em coming. Hopefully I will be flying in next year. 1
Guernsey Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Good to see some early pics. Keep em coming. Hopefully I will be flying in next year. That's a hell of a long flight from where you live Kev, what are you flying ??? . Alan. 1
brilin_air Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Thanks for that Captain, first time in ten years we haven't been able to make it .Bob We are only going on the Saturday this year ourselves (weather permitting) Bob. Too many other things happening this Easter to allow for the 4 days away. -Linda 1
kgwilson Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 That's a hell of a long flight from where you live Kev, what are you flying ??? .Alan. It's only 720km in a straight line. With good weather and a bit of sightseeing on the way plus visits to some of the pubs I want to fly to it'll be a good fortnight's holiday. With bad weather make that a month. Who cares, I don't have any deadlines other than those imposed by SWMBO. Time to spare, go by air.
Ballpoint 246niner Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 G'day There is a line of thunderstorms on the way to us maybe 3 - 5 hours west and a change behind that, so tomorrow looks a bit Thanks Captain for the post , working this Easter, so keep us posted on the candy and the stories. No truth in the rumours of a" race for renewal regatta" in the list of events for those trying to re register their beloved aircraft in the current fiasco- there would be a stampede if they held it! Have a good weekend.
Guest Maj Millard Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 G'day Howard !!....looks like you have the same camp spot as last year. Didn't make it this year so we can't go for an early morning cruise. Hope you are enjoying the retirement mate.................Cheers from the family also...Maj...
Captain Posted March 28, 2013 Author Posted March 28, 2013 Weather Thursday was overcast with showers, as predicted. Some aircraft arrived and below are a few photos that also show the set-up of stands etc. A lot of people are working hard for the members. Check out the clouds in some of them as these were taken just before a SW change came through. The weather this morning (Friday) is PERFECT or a little better, with clear skys but cool and it looks like magic flying weather. If you are thinking of coming, then give it a go. And as shown near the bottom, there is another SportStar here for Ahlocks' aircraft to play with, if he comes up. Regards Geoff 1
Captain Posted March 29, 2013 Author Posted March 29, 2013 Friday 2 pm .... Great weather with wind from about 200. This morning was cool and if you are from F'nQ or F'n NT you might have thought it cold. Day is now warm around lunchtime. Lots of aircraft flying in, with heaps of VH registrations amongst them. Sorry about all the photos of the Helicycle, but I have been hot for one for a while now. If you are here and not having fun, then check your pulse. Congrats go to Ed Herring and his Committee for the new layout of displays. Much improved, I reckon. And also for the Spitfire flying display, which I think had David Lowy, himself, at the controls. Hope you enjoy the following: 9
pylon500 Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Thought it would turn out like that, once I decided NOT to go...
viewfromright Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Hi Captain Absolutely great pictures, thanks for posting!!!! Can you ask some there to turn on the web cam................. http://www.natfly.com.au/webcam/ as it is still showing " "Natfly Temora Airport 2012 Looking to the North"
Captain Posted March 29, 2013 Author Posted March 29, 2013 Hi CaptainAbsolutely great pictures, thanks for posting!!!! Can you ask some there to turn on the web cam................. http://www.natfly.com.au/webcam/ as it is still showing " "Natfly Temora Airport 2012 Looking to the North" Thanks VFR. Will do what I can. I'd like to see 2 or 3 cameras in operation with also a constant broadcast from the Temora CTAF as well. Then all members who can't attend can make vroom vroom noises & circuit calls from their lounge chairs. 1 1
Captain Posted March 29, 2013 Author Posted March 29, 2013 A further update .................... Wind has just gone a tad west & is between 18 & 23, but sky is blue and weather is GREAT (AvRef), however with another cool night on the way. Some day trippers are departing while there are plenty of demo aircraft and gyros active in the circuit. And a bit of scandal ............ slartibartsimpson is here riding a "Follow-me" Postie bike & he looks exactly like Marlon Brando. Plus a scoop ............... don't believe everything that Telstra says about their wireless internet either. This has been a pain to load due to wireless dropouts. Attendance is certainly down on recent years, but some additional aircraft have arrived today, so a few further pics are below: 4

Probably the only way to fly there by next year. Thanks Captain great pictures.
turboplanner Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 And a bit of scandal ............ slartibartsimpson is here riding a "Follow-me" Postie bike & he looks exactly like Marlon Brando You journalists are all the same - sensationalist morons! I've seen Slarti and he looks more like a Postie bike.

Regards Geoff 21193[ I see a new rego number format on the Bristol BRM ( photo) "E24.xxxx" never seen this hybrid numbering it either VH experimental or 19 rego anyone care to elaborate on the E24 prefix?
Ballpoint 246niner Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Can anyone shed some light on the "E24- rego prefix on the Bristell BRM, it's either factory built 24 or 19 or VH experimental....?
pylon500 Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Some LSA aircraft can be built from a kit, but being 'homebuilt', they cannot be used in schools. These aircraft, although LSA and therefore '24', are given the prefix 'E24'. The benefit? 600kg MTOW, (half of this would be paperwork......) 1

Thanks Pylon, I thought all the Bristells were full factory builds, I guess post Pacific Ibis, the microscope of scrutiny is on x 100 magnification. Watching with interest in this brave new era of LSA. 1
Guest Andys@coffs Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 LSA "Leads to Sh!tty Administration" or perhaps "Lapse of Serious Administration" or even "Legislated but Seriously Abstruce" ( http://thesaurus.com/browse/abstruse you learn something new every day!)
Guest Maj Millard Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Great coverage there rat, Slarti looked just as rediculous last year on that postie bike !......I see my old mate there again with the little corby, we were neighbors last year and Windsor and I enjoyed his company. Almost like being there ...thanks ...............................Maj...

Thanks Madge, I wasn't sure whether Slarti looked most like Marlon Brando or Marilyn Monroe (the "Bikie" or the "Bike"), so I went with the kinder option. 1
