storchy neil Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 if you have a Rotax 912 series motor how legal is your plane do you have to have return line to your fuel tank to return excess fuel from carburettors the number of aircraft that do not have this will come as a surprise to some neil
Ultralights Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 i think those that dont can sometimes have issues with flooding carbies,
M61A1 Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 It is my understanding that the return line is to prevent vapour lock.
geoffreywh Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 to return excess fuel from the carbs???? What excess fuel???? That does not compute with the fuel regulated by float/ float bowl and needle and seat.. There could possibly a return line so that the fuel "head" is constant...
rgmwa Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 The RV-12 with a 912 ULS has a return fuel line. rgmwa
cscotthendry Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 The return line is indeed a vapour return as described in the 912 installation manual. I put one in my Nynja, but the trike I owned previously that was commercially manufactured, didn't have it, AND the manufacturer ran the unshielded fuel line right under the intake manifold where it gets bloody hot! That was a recipe for vapour lock.
