nomadpete
Now this is really interesting. A bit tedious at first and rather long to listen to in this age of sound bite news, but....... I'll be thinking about it next time I fly someplace in a big metal tube. Luckily Australia is not important enough for the real terryists to do much damage to us. And there I was, just worrying about the cost of ADS-B. The lack of security of the system is appalling. At work we are constantly doing risk assessments, seems none of the aviation safety bureaucrats considered the risks. And now we are stuck with it world wide. Gentreau
Is that related to this http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/04/11/hacking_aircraft_with_android_handset/ If it is, then it's already been denied here: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/04/13/faa_debunks_android_hijack_claim/
fly_tornado
A case of the journalist not understanding the technology but knowing a good headline. Nowadays, newspapers are aiming lower and settling for click bait.
Exadios
Is that related to this http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/04/11/hacking_aircraft_with_android_handset/If it is, then it's already been denied here: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/04/13/faa_debunks_android_hijack_claim/ No. This video really only explores the security aspects of the protocol - of which there are none The denials in the article are to do with security of the nodes - in particular the FMS. As far as I know nobody has addressed the security concerns raised in this video. It is difficult to see how they can be addressed. The ADB-S protocols remind me very much of the early (1970s and 1980s) internet protocols where anything went.
flying dog
I have actually got one of those "doo dads" which plug into the computer's USB port and I get LIVE flight data. As I live near YSSY it is quite good when I have time to use it.
