Clint Waters Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Hi all, I am new to this site. Some background info on myself: I am a student at Swinburne University in Melbourne Australia completing my Product Design Engineering degree this year. The final year project is an all electric powered para glider. The project will be a joint effort between our different engineering disciplines. There are currently a few different existing electric ultralights on the market which we are hoping to improve on the likes of. Currently we are still in the research stage for this project. I have a Ultralight user survey which I would really appreciate if you can guys could take the time to complete. The survey is totally anonymous and will only take 5 minutes to complete. If you could please take the time the survey is link is: http://freeonlinesurveys.com/s.asp?sid=kslna7nt6v0xb9p253367 Regards, Clint 1
Clint Waters Posted April 27, 2013 Author Posted April 27, 2013 Thank you to the members here who have completed the survey!!
Mark11 Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Clint, No good designing and building them if you don't fly them too... Have you got a licence yet? I found an electric trike from Tassie. It's a few years old now http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=FSp7Qd1muZc&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DFSp7Qd1muZc Regards Mark 1

Clint Waters Posted April 28, 2013 Author Posted April 28, 2013 Here is another onehttp://electricultralighttrike.com/videos/ Hi Mark, thankyou for the response. Well as uni tends to do, money is in abundance at the moment but that is not to say that in the future I will not get my licence. Those vids are great, a successful flight. We are designing a flexible wing (parachute) type paraglider. Should be good. Clint
rankamateur Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Will it handle more wind than the exsisting ones can? Power chutes are notably absent at Natfly more than a couple of hours after dawn.

Have you heard of aerochute industries? We are working in conjunction with them. This is good feedback for us, as we are currently researching into want ultralight buyers really want. We are considering a rectanglular chute with improve line attachment positions for extra stability etc. I will look more into the wind aspect. Clint
rankamateur Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 I used to think they would be just the job for culling wild pigs out here. Now I am not sure I would get in one, if the wind folds the chute up you've got nothing.

They tell me they are safe, the air cells in the chute help to avoid collapses. Aerial pig shooting would be great, love to give it a go (im a keen shooter myself)
Gnarly Gnu Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 I am not real keen on getting in one myself. Surveys are safer for sure. Plus you may get the pig but a PPC won't bring home the bacon. Still be wonderful to behold the CASA guy ramp checking an armed PPC. Tell them you are Botswana Air Force or something. 1

Clint Waters Posted May 1, 2013 Author Posted May 1, 2013 I have been receiving a good number of responses for the survey, thank you to all who have taken the time to fill it out. I have seen that I have a few gaps missing in my results and so I have a new survey. If you have completed the survey before you can do it again of you wish. Clint Aerochute Industries have been selling the Hummerchute WITHOUT the correct documentation for registration as factory built class 32, if you purchase one today you CANT fly it unless your prepared to register it as class 19 which is not factory built & that would be lying on your application. They haven't registered one correctly ( legally ) since about Nov 2012 (according to RAA). Phone RAA and see if you can register a Hummerchute as factory built class 32, if you all ready have a Hummerchute that is licenced ,then currently they will not renew it. Dealing with Aerochute... beware
Guernsey Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Aerial Pigs. Are they the ones that fly? Nev Yep! My first ever flight as a nine year old was in what we called 'The Flying Pig' ......see attached photo. Alan.
