Here is a snap shot of the new Recreational Flying Aircraft Showcase that is coming within the next few days to the site.

The site home page will also include the "Featured Aircraft"

What I would like to hear any comments on are the categories that I have created for the aircraft to enable you to find aircraft that are of interest to you. The proposed categories are simply:

Ultralight and LSA Aircraft

Microlights and Trikes

Rotorcraft

Powered Chutes

Gliders

GA Aircraft

Warbirds, Vintage and Classic

Aircraft Kits

Is it to condensed or is the category list ok?

It would be great if there was a way to standardise the specs, like the Aircraft directory Mag.

Nothing worse than lusting after an airframe and then finding its a 472Kg MTOW or cruises 30 knots slower than you would have liked ...

What "standard" specs would you like to see every aircraft have...if a certain spec can't be ascertained, the standard spec would still be displayed but simply have an "unknown" next to it until such time that it can be ascertained.

Put "actual" and then list things like

Basic weight

AUW

Cruise Speed and fuel rate of use, and VNe

Structural and other limits ie +6 -3 G ultimate

Fuel capacity location and material used for tank.

Cockpit width

Stall clean/ flaps ext.

x-wind limit.

Wingspan and area

Construction materials used throughout Date built.

Control system actuation. Rods, Cables

Wheel brake type and make Tyres size..

Instrumentation and radio installed...

Engine type/hours and airframe prop. hours.

Where stored and used .

Damage history... Something to start with.....Nev

A lot of that isn't going to be available Nev, when I am populating the Aircraft Showcase section. I will only be able to go with what is listed on their websites.

True but if you establish a reference it might become more used. Mines only a start. (Deletions are OK so it could be reduced if that suited the purpose). What I have listed is some of what I would want to know. Nev

There was a file I PM'ed you a file last year which had: Name, Manufacturer, price, Cruise Speed, Max speed, Range, Useful load and Take off Distance for 86 types.

Personally I would also like to see MTOW, Fuel Capacity, empty weight.

The world directory of leisure aviation here includes:

Empty weight, MTOW, Vs0 Vcruise & engine.

Any combination of the above would be great, I'f you can import from a spreadsheet Im happy enough to consolidate one entry from the two sources.

One issue I am finding is that many aircraft web sites list a Stall Speed of their aircraft with no qualification. What would you guess it to be when an aircraft has in its specifications just the heading of "Stall Speed"...would you take it as Vs or Vso or ???

I have come up with these pre-set fields for the Specifications page of each aircraft...any other specifications can be entered in as extra text:

Cruise Speed (Vno):

Maximum Airspeed (VNE):

Stall Speed (Vs):

Fuel Capacity:

Fuel Range:

Useful Load (kg):

Take Off Distance (ft):

Wingspan (ft):

Engine Make/Type:

Thanks damkia however that information normally isn't always listed without having to start up dialogue with the distributor...where it is provided on the distributor/manufacturer's website, it can be included in the text information on the specifications page

Well, I have added the first aircraft into the Recreational Flying Aircraft Showcase to see how it all goes.

Please have a look and before I start populating it properly, any comments are welcomed

MTOW

Basic empty weight.

Baggage capacity (volume & weight)

All very important for any initial aircraft consideration.
