Admin Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 With the server move the Chat Room wasn't reinstalled on the new server. Prior to the server move the Chat Room wasn't really used any more so I would like to know if you want it brought back and if so would you use it as it will cost $100 to get it reinstalled.
Admin Posted May 16, 2013 Author Posted May 16, 2013 The poll results say it all .. what...that some people would use it? I actually started the poll a bit too early today as this morning I purchased the software for the new 1 to 1 instant chat system which also has video chat and file sharing so I think that once that is implemented the poll results could be different.

Admin Posted May 17, 2013 Author Posted May 17, 2013 The few times I went into the chat room, there was noone else there. The Forum is great the way it is presently. If 100 people went into the chat room 1 minute apart they would all see that no one was in there and leave again which was the problem...I think that when you went in there you needed to keep the window open for as long as you could so anyone else going in there would see someone else there and on it goes. Previously the only way of seeing if someone was in there was either go in there yourself or have a look in the who is online box in the right column of some pages but that is somewhat out of focused sight. One enhancement I had thought of was to have a red balloon, like you have with your Inbox and Alerts, showing the number of users in the chat room next to the Chat Room menu link. This I thought would get more attention however it would just be shown when you are in the forums area. I could always place it up in the top right corner next to the Inbox and Alerts and then that would be site wide but taking up extra real estate in that area. On a side note I see that the 1 to 1 chat people have installed some of its software already on the server so that should be up and running hopefully in a few days
Guernsey Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Now if you hooked up a Skype function to the chat room deaf people could talk to each other and some members of the executive could also join in as they never listen anyway. . Alan. 1 1

Some of them can't read either, because the writing has been on the wall for some of them for a longtime.
