Deskpilot Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 http://ukga.com/news/view?contentId=30504 By my very dubious maths, that's an average speed of 46.2 Knots????.
FlyingVizsla Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 According to the article: Pheonix Arizona to Dallas Texas = 832NM in 18 hours 21 mins (18.35hrs) 832/18.35 = 45.34Kts Slow Sue
facthunter Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 How much is it a solar powered plane and how much a glider? I had a good look at Gossamer Albatross at the Science Museum at Kensington (UK) and it was by pedal power in ground effect ( well water in this case) a pretty impressive effort from a very light structure. I think a human can get about .6 HP for a short time. Nev
Deskpilot Posted May 26, 2013 Author Posted May 26, 2013 Sue, like I said, my dubious maths, and to think that, 55 years ago, I was top of the school in the subject. How times change.
FlyingVizsla Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 Sue, like I said, my dubious maths, and to think that, 55 years ago, I was top of the school in the subject. How times change. Your maths was correct - the opening paragraph said 18 hours, 832NM (46.2kts). Towards the end they qualified that as 18 hours 21 minutes. Sue
