AVOCET Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 I think it would be easier to recirculate the fuel through the tank wouldn't it Tubz; a separate heater is one less point of failure to worry about. If they used a high pressure common rail design like my Landcruiser (using the fuel as pump lubricant), the returning fuel goes through a cooling unit under the floor, so obviously lots of heat available. Don't they use a bit of avgas in the diesel in places like Antarctica & Alaska Where diesel is used ?
David Isaac Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Don't they use a bit of avgas in the diesel in places like Antarctica & AlaskaWhere diesel is used ? You might get away with that in rather agricultural diesels, but from what I understand, adding 'petrol' of any kind will damage the modern high pressure common rail diesel fuel system.
fly_tornado Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 $11k is a good price for a 100hp engine. Monnet has been doing VW for 20 years
AVOCET Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Yes , I wouldn't recommend it . I saw a program where they took Toyota landys to the North Pole And that's how they stopped the diesel freezing . Mike .
bexrbetter Posted July 28, 2014 Author Posted July 28, 2014 $11k is a good price for a 100hp engine. Monnet has been doing VW for 20 years I don't want one! And even if I did I would chose a Subaru EA81 or Suzuki G13B ahead of it .. http://www.raven-rotor.com/html/price.html http://ramengines.com/page6.php
fly_tornado Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 of course you do! you just don't know it. that VW is simple as a singer treadle sowing machine 2
Oscar Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Good heavens - a realistic engine that actually exists. However did they manage to get that far without some unauthenticable photos and an endless supply of : 'and next week, I'll have some wonderful news' posts? Jeez, you just can't trust some people. They just go out and do it - the bastards. 1
bexrbetter Posted July 28, 2014 Author Posted July 28, 2014 By the way, I got some Jab wings for sale that I grabbed while in the UK last time, numbers ST1 #0001, anyone interested in these? 1
AVOCET Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 I By the way, I got some Jab wings for sale that I grabbed while in the UK last time, numbers ST1 #0001, anyone interested in these? I guess that their the short foam filled ones ?
bexrbetter Posted July 28, 2014 Author Posted July 28, 2014 II guess that their the short foam filled ones ? Full of something ....
AVOCET Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Full of something .... Can you post a pic , I'm interested Mike
Chird65 Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 ...However did they manage to get that far without some unauthenticable photos and an endless supply of : 'and next week, I'll have some wonderful news' posts? . Actually, they have been talking about this since 2009. It didn't happen over night. http://www.sonexaircraft.com/research/aeroveeturbo.html
Guernsey Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 of course you do! you just don't know it. that VW is simple as a singer treadle sowing machine You had me in stitches with that one FT. Alan. 1
fly_tornado Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 So bex, why didn't you design an inline 4 cylinder diesel that would be dead simple to build compared to the engine you are producing
Oscar Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Nice to see polite exchanges without some of the needling that goes on here too often. Of course, that's what should be a guiding principle of a thread. 3 1
David Isaac Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 What ... 'needling' a guiding principle ... LOL
turboplanner Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 You really want needling to be the guiding principle, stirrrer?
Oscar Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 No, no - you're overlocking the essential point that people should strive to pleats everybody... 1
Mark11 Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Which ever way you twist it, picking and poking holes is poor form and hard to patch up later 1 1
eightyknots Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Nice to see polite exchanges without some of the needling that goes on here too often. Of course, that's what should be a guiding principle of a thread. Needless to say, if Bex's engine uses a carburettor, needling will be involved (this can be avoided if it is fuel injection). 1 2
eightyknots Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 Similar to the DAIR http://dair.co.uk/Only similar to mine in that it's an opposed piston but I stayed away from a 2/4 cylinder because of the extra secondary forces. Hi Bex, any update on your engine development?
