Errol 170 Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Hi All, Has anybody got experience yet with the new roller cam followers in the latest version of the Jab engine. I was interested to know if the roller cam followers have reduced engine heating. Regards, Errol.
deadstick Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Hi Errol. I have a new 3300 of the latest configuration, I don't have any flight hours on it yet but from the ground run, the engine appears a lot smoother than the previous versions. The idle was set really low from the factory for some reason so on the initial ground run, surprisingly it idled at 650rpm without a problem until I shut it down.
Errol 170 Posted June 3, 2013 Author Posted June 3, 2013 Thanks for that deadstick. That information is very encouraging to me because I am looking at buying a factory J170. I think the rolling improvements to Jab engines have resulted in a very good aero engine after so many years development.
