Deb Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 Our club has recently been given a Skydart 111, it has metal wings so I am interested in anyone who has flown one and how it flew?
Deb Posted June 18, 2013 Author Posted June 18, 2013 Maybe get the wings on this weekend??? Then some photos
howe Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Had a skydart 3,flew really great, sorry I sold it. But are the metal wings still wire braced or strut braced?
Deb Posted July 16, 2013 Author Posted July 16, 2013 Strut braced with tube. Wings have been reinforced with AL C sections fore and aft. Do you think weight will be a problem?
howe Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 Probably not. Easy check, weigh the old and then the new. The difference could represent the difference between a heavy pilot and a light pilot. You may have to recheck the cog though.
Deb Posted July 17, 2013 Author Posted July 17, 2013 The original wings are not with the aircraft as some of the components have been used to make the new wings. I did speak to Steve Cohen the designer and his opinion was if the airfoil was the same the wings would still perform the same. The original pilot was a solid guy and that may be sufficient weight difference with a 70Kg operator. The aircraft from the records has been flown 123 Hrs. Will recheck cog.
