Hi All,

Just registered, having been made aware of the site from another forum.

Love the feel of the place.

Anyway a bit about me....

Still P/UT

13 hours flexwing (trike)

1 hour 3 axis microlight - Eurostar

2 hours Group A - Warrior

I'm an impatient sort so have been doing some group A when the weather has been too restrictive for the microlights.

IIRC- Back in the AUF days a "Group A" aircraft was a 3 axis ultralight as opposed to a (weight shift) ultralight trike.

In the UK they call 3 axis GA aircraft Group A . I think.

ok here goes.....

Group A is the likes of Cessna 152, Piper Warrior.

3 Axis is a fixed-wing microlight

both of the above require separate licences, although a lot of similarities between them

Welcome aboard Darren. Can you tell a beginner what is meant by "Still P/UT" ?

Yes, I'm still Pilot Under Training.

Largely due to the weather!

The best pilots are still learning years after they get their wings...

Welcome Darren. Out here a Pilot training is a student pilot. Initially anyhow. There are a lot of confusing terms around. You say you fly a flexwing, but that is a "fixed" wing weightshift as that is what a "trike" is. One could ask if it is flexing you haven't "fixed' it yet. Watch out for Franco Arri. (Farri) He lives in paradise (ask him for pics )and he has been flying for ever. in things like Drifters .Nev

Welcome Darren. Group A is not a term used here, so you might have to elaborate. Nev

Welcome to the forum Darren. . . .hope we'll hear a lot from you . . . .

"Group A" used to be a term used in Pommieland to describe General Aviation flying. And in the very early days Nev, . . .back when you and I were sprogs,. . .it used to be called "Getting your 'A' Licence" Now it's all rather Europeanised,. . . my PPL licence covers S.E.P. /( single engine piston ) Landplane. . . ( lost the seaplane and float rating too. . . ) up to 5,700 Kgs. And restricted to 250 Knots . . . .I dropped the multis and twins on a pure private hours maintenance / cost basis. . . no I/R now either, a UK IMC rating isn't really a lot of use,. . . You can fly in cloud enroute, but the departure and arrival airfields must be in VMC. . . . dunno what I'll do if I fly into cloud inadvertantly now. . . .I'll just have to lose control and die, otherwise I'll be in breach of the regs and suffer a heavy fine.
