ave8rr Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Just received the scale of fees from CASA for the issue / renewal of an ASIC / AVID http://casa.gov.au/scripts/nc.dll?WCMS:STANDARD::pc=PC_101324 I guess ALL issueing authorities will now follow. I hope the current petition re ASIC's gets over the line. Cheers
dazza 38 Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I'm glad I don't have one of these stupid ID cards. What a waste of money. These cards should have sh*t canned years ago. 1
djpacro Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 CASA doesn't do much of the work. Renewals they told me that Aviation ID did everything so my guess is that everyone elsehas put their fees upand CASA adds something for their paperwork. I don't use CASA for my ASIC - direct to Aviation ID..

I don't use CASA for my ASIC - direct to Aviation ID.. Last time I did mine it was via the CASA website to Aviation ID and when speaking with Aviation ID they said it was a few dollars cheaper to go via the CASA link than direct with them (Aviation ID). Anyway $200 is still alot! My wife has and ASIC also so she can come and go to the hangar with out being escorted. Some might say that is a BAD thing! Cheers 1
frank marriott Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I've done my last couple of renewals through RAA - about $30 cheaper then CASA - same card and authority. 1
mAgNeToDrOp Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 They obviously make a decent stream of revenue from it so abolishing it will be nearly impossible, nevermind the politics of it :( 1
chrsq Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 I find it interesting that the email came through Friday night that the fees were going up on Monday. Does not give anyone a chance to renew at the old fee, a bit rude i would have thought. I received my renewal two weeks ago and were going to renew it this coming week, looks like a few less beers next Friday night.
Mark11 Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Another year before I pay again - and I'm still a student who gets around one flight a month (every other is affected by wind) But got to have it to get to the hanger!
Cosmick Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 I have received my ASIC renewal from RAA $160 (inc GST), better than $200 but I've got to get all the ID confirmation again. I was who I was last time, what bulls†#t. Get a JP again to certify, I'm a JP, convenient for everyone else but me. At least with the Blue Card they only want your money 1
billwoodmason Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 I don't think ASIC cards at any price will stop any terrorism attempt, they just are an unnecessary impost on the aviation community. Why isn't our RAA pilots certificate or PPL card sufficient identification to be airside when required?. ASIC cards are frog sh1t !! Sign the petition to get rid of them. 2
Guest Maj Millard Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Who cares....I handed mine back in a couple of years ago, after flying for two years without ever being asked to produce it once. Besides you don't need it to have access to security controlled airports, as I have proved on many occasions. Doesn't take much to fool an Arab...and most airport operators really want to sell you fuel ...period.........Maj...
dazza 38 Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 I don't have one either but I do feel for the guys who need to have a ASIC card and they have to pay for it. A expensive waste of time.
coljones Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 We were informed at the meeting at Temora that the price of RAA ASICs would increase to the market rate as RAA was subsidising the price charged to RAA members. I did a survey at the end of last year when replacing my ASIC and RAA was cheapest followed by CASA and then with a large wedge of light to the commercial ASIC providers.
davebutler Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 I was recently required to inspect & commission some equipment on a ship in Brisbane. When I arrived at security I was asked if I had a MSIC, Maritime version of an ASIC. Said no but I have an ASIC. Not good enough Had to go through the whole security thing and was escorted aboard the vessel. If I wanted a MSIC I would have to go through the whole process and of course PAY THE MONEY:angry: I may be wrong on this one but I believe both are issued by the same mob, so why can there not be 1 standard security card for people working or needing to get into these security areas???Oh sorry I forgot THE MONEY:angry: So from this I learned that Aviation terrorists must be different Maritime terrorists 2 3 1

These type of do-gooders in our society are unemployable in private enterprise, thats how they get into the Public Service because they think they are doing you a good service by protecting you against yourself. I know we winge & complain with this type of useless bullshit, but would we swap with what we have got for what people have got in Syria , Libya or Iraq. This is the only sanity which brings us back to earth.

They make simple decisions to give themselves huge pay rises at the drop of a hat and the average worker F#rk all, and practical ly straight after the decision was made, not to mention the other simple decisions to allow full access to super after serving a certain length of time in parliament and a simple decision to have ship load bigger % of tax payer funded super contributions while we once again get F#rk all. Really quite simple & practical actually, not many out there in it for other than what they can get out of it, but then again we peasants vote them in on good fail and stupidity. Alf 2 1
facthunter Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Al, the pollies rates are fixed by an independent tribunal and their made in heaven pension scheme was made more normal a few years ago so the later ones are not so generous. I THINK they earn their money by and large. Run a bank chain, and you get 40 times as much as the PM. The corruption in many foreign countries is the reason most want the job there but we might just be a little better than most, in that respect. Watch the jobs they get after retiring and you can get an idea who they served. Especially in the "States". and the lobbying is corrupt. Needs controlling.. Nev 2

facthunter Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 They would go to war to avoid having to have an ASIC.( Any sensible people would). If you want to get picked on wear a pilot's uniform, and you will always have to show it. The RAAus one is "access all areas". That is a bit funny. You still have to have a legitimate reason to be on an aerodrome though.. Everyone knows the U/L's have been very successful in carrying tonnes of explosives and are a distinct threat. Nev

Nev Nev, They seem to change the rules for us workers at a whim, I used to be able to contribute 50 k a year into super but now that's 25 because they were losing when I salary sacrificed. So whether or not their sweetheart deal by an independent tribunal and their made in heaven super scheme made way back then can and should also be changed also but it won't for one damn reason. Those pricks will be losing out. They don't give one hoot about us or anyone else but what they can get out of it while they can. Alf
facthunter Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Er.. You don't like them Alf? I do agree that SOME are not that good but that's our fault for letting them get there. Most countries don't have the opportunities and rights we do. We should make the most of it. Nev
alf jessup Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Nev, I value my vote, a lot of people are like sheep they follow the crowd. I admired Kennett when he was in as premier of Victoria much as I couldn't stand him , he was smart, first week in $100 dollar a week pay rise to all is party, total uproar from the voters as we were trying to get 3% and got knocked back. Come re election time he dishes out a few carrots to the public who have now forgotten his first week and bingo back in as the good guy. Me I couldn't stand him when he was building the tunnels and going to charge us a toll, used them once and thanked him for allowing me to see Melbourne in the rear view mirror quicker as I headed out of the joint. Don't dislike them all in politics, just most of them. Alf
facthunter Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Watch for the ones who sell off the peoples assets to their mates to build big profit buildings on, ( complete with kick back) , or mine farming areas once for a short time and ruin them forever. Jeff is a bit of an anachronism. An AD man isn't he? I have spoken to him a few times )some time back). , but Lately I don't know what he is doing. Nev
