Valdiviano Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 For those interested in the Viking engine http://www.vikingaircraftengines.com/news.htm
Kyle Communications Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 There are quite a few threads on here on the viking. There is one here going in a Morgan cougar and one installed and waiting on a ecu up in Mareeba in a WAC Spirit
nong Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I have been testing Ray White's newly completed 601 Zodiac this week. Engine-wise it has been very unexciting. It starts easily. Then it runs smoothly. The sustained climb performance indicates that the claimed power is there. All temps, including gearbox are in the 'no sweat' range. Possibly we are first airborne in Aust. At this stage, I can only speak highly of it's performance in all respects. 1
bexrbetter Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 There is a Yahoo Group on them .... http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Vikingaircraftengines/?m=0 The guys who has instigated the Viking has a notorious history and has burnt a lot of bridges in aviation so worth investigating that side of it first - just the messenger by the way, don't shoot me!
Kyle Communications Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Nong you will be the first in the air with one then...Jan Eggenfellner has a bad reputation with a lot of people...although it seems he has learnt a lot of lessons except the one about underfunding...he is behind with orders and develeopments but mainly due to funds from what I read into it
bexrbetter Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 ..... one installed and waiting on a ecu up in Mareeba in a WAC Spirit You could try Ross if it gets to that .... http://www.sdsefi.com/aircraft.html
Kyle Communications Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 The ECU is supplied with the engine. Jan has got a new one but there are delays in getting them....I dont think the delays are manufacturing delays more likely money delays
Downunder Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 I see he now has a turbo version coming. 132 HP The Viking Turbo installation is nearing completion. The Turbo engine will produce 132hp at sea-level and 100hp at 8000ft Pricing is 15,995 Anyone wanting to add the turbo to an existing engine can do so in February Turbo update cost is $3,000 + $1,000 for other parts to be strengthened http://www.vikingaircraftengines.com/news.htm I must say, I like the pictures of the engine.
eightyknots Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 132 hp is very respectable but how much extra weight is there for the turbo installation?
fly_tornado Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 * assuming that Jan hasn't fudged the figures the same way he fudges the weight figures.
