Guest Andys@coffs Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Ummmmmm scuse me sir......what's a "water meditators" and what's Nitropil?
dodo Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Nitropil would be nitroprill - ammonium nitrate in small pellets. You mix it with diesel on site, and blow stuff up. Good stuff, very safe, and cheap. Explosive of choice for any normal ag blasting. It's what I had been using when I tested negative! dodo
farri Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 As there was no follow up testing, how do you know it was wrong? It is only a screening test for nitrates and nitrates are everywhere, so it is very easy to get a positive test. I don`t know the positive result was wrong but the guy specifically said he was testing for explosives not nitrates. How did he know the positive result wasn`t correct? With a positive result, shouldn`t he have done follow up testing? What`s the point of doing a test for explosives then ignoring a positive result Frank.
facthunter Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 The test method would involve the detection of something. I suppose if the indication is positive, they then satisfy themselves that you are not actually carrying anything. I don't know how hard they look or where they look. Same with sniffer dogs with suitcases. Nev
johnm Posted July 19, 2013 Author Posted July 19, 2013 this is cynical but I think Farri makes a conclusive statement: 'what's the point ................. ' I have always thought it would even be 'immediately' safer if someone was carrying a bomb that it was not discovered because if you are waiting in the pens for flight .............. there could a bloody big fire cracker going off any time soon
facthunter Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Less damaging than in the air. The deterrent effect is the aim. I would like to see a reinforced detonating room where each pax enters alone and walks through with a self opening door for the positives in the FLOOR. Nev 1
Gibbo Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Ignore my spelling. Damn Apple autocorrect. 'Water medication' is a way of treating nutrient deficient cattle. In large parts of northern oz the grass lands lack certain minerals and the feed itself is fairly tough to digest. Hence certain minerals and other goodies are mixed in a small water tank and then added to the drinking water at controlled rates to resolve the issues. A major portion of this is Urea. Mixed with diesel found on many 'environmentally controlled' bore pumps will get any little rent a cop excited at the machine. It has fallen out of favour of late due to the 'accidents'. 1
farri Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Gibbo, off topic, I know but I`m interested to know what type of accident you are talking about and the cause. I`ve always known what Urea mixed with diesel can do. I`ve used countless tons of urea and lts of diesel but I`ve never heard of accidents with it at bore pumps....We don`t want to tell anyone how to make a bomb, though. Frank.

Sorry Frank - I was hinting at the 'Toll' when things go wrong with medicators. It was always denied by several of the companies involved. Overdose of urea...
