Guest Maj Millard Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Some photos I took of this mornings fly-in at Paynes Lagoon strip about 45 nm West of Townsville, in amoungst all the army restricted and danger zones up there in the high country. WX was a little challenging, but eight aircraft turned up which I believe was one more than expected, most with two on board..Great little fly up and back, with hats off to the friendly folks from Ayr who organised it all....................Maj...

Guest Maj Millard Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 The bloke up here who owns the Carbon Cub also has a corvair powered Pietenpol Air Camper. Sounds great in the air. Bubbleboy Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Maj...that would be Arthur Johnson! Arthur has been helping me by answering my many questions. I hope to be up that way one day to check it out! Im sitting here as I type compiling a list of 4130 that I need to continue. Performance Metals order coming up! My Corvair is in the USA at the moment. Roy from Roys Garage has rebuilt the crank already and will be assembling the case halves and fitting a 5th bearing and will ship it over for me to finish assembling it. Its getting a little exciting! Scotty
Guest Maj Millard Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Yes Arthur, I haven't seen him fly it lately, but it sure sounds great with the Corvair. Nice little project you've got there. Let me know if your coming up this way anytime..........Cheers Maj...
