Bubbleboy Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 My Corvair engine is being partially rebuilt in the USA and although it wont be ready for shipping for a number of months, im doing some homework as to how will be the most cost effective way of getting it back here. It is basically a short block that will be in a wooden crate. Does anyone bring containers over from the USA who might have room for such an item? Happy to contribute to cost. How have others done this sort of thing? Scotty
old man emu Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 Scotty, Buy a copy of Airplane Trader. There are people who advertise containerisation and transport of aircraft from the US. All you have to do is ask. There was one bloke who was doing a fair bit of shipping out of California all around the world, but he swapped his pilot's nav bag for a set of wings and a harp a few months ago. (Natural causes I believe). Try ringing the mob I used to work for and ask Dave. OME
fly_tornado Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 I used www.usa2aus.com, about $400 there are a ton of car importers that can bring in an engine.
metalman Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 Also there's a yahoo group of RV builders RVs in aus, some of them may be bringing kits in, I had some parts bought in with another guys stuff, worked out great
Bubbleboy Posted July 17, 2013 Author Posted July 17, 2013 Thanks guys!...all good leads which I will follow up on. Scotty
