metalman Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Gotta hand it to the guy filming, nuts like bowling balls to stand there as the plane came straight at him ,,,,,,
rgmwa Posted August 19, 2013 Author Posted August 19, 2013 Yes, he left it a bit late to hit the ground, but I think most people would have just stood there watching too until they realised all was not well. I can't understand why the pilot continued the takeoff, when it must have been obvious the plane wasn't light and didn't want to fly. There seems to be plenty of water around to be able to abort safely, but he was probably fixated on trying to get it into the air and over the hill. Easy to be an armchair pilot though. I've made one or two decisions that weren't all that smart with hindsight (or even foresight), and I imagine I wouldn't be the only one. rgmwa
facthunter Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Had a lot of aileron trying to lift the left float. Moral of the story is if there is something obviously wrong don't take it into the air with you. Don't hesitate to abort the take off if there is something not right. Nev 1
rocket1172 Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Right aileron, left wing stalled and dropped. Ouch!
