oracle1 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 A Jabiru has landed safely in a paddock at Victoria Pt after a suspected engine failure. That's two in two weeks? What's going on? http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/queensland/pilot-forced-to-make-emergency-landing-in-paddock-southeast-of-brisbane/story-fnihsrf2-1226700475247
facthunter Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Usually comes in three's ( but I don't believe that either) . Who knows? Could have been out of fuel. Nev
facthunter Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 In Greece, It's always pilot error and they go to Jail real fast. It's a dangerous and unfair presumption often made because the pilot is there and the plane crashed. What could be more obvious? Nev
turboplanner Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 pilot error, what else? You're going to look silly if it was....... 1 1
old man emu Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Nothing to see here, folks. Move along. Well done that pilot, but how did he manage to rip the top cowl off when stopping? OME 1
turboplanner Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I see FT, he forgot to check the prop before he took off.
bexrbetter Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 ... the top cowl off when stopping? Indicates an engine stoppage, wanted to see what was wrong after landing. 2
dazza 38 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Apparently the prop damage is because she went through a Electric fence then a Barb wire fence. She looks in pretty good shape considering. Rego is 24-7984 Pathfinder Aviation from Archerfield.
fly_tornado Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I just noticed that the nose gear looks like its covered in oil, so I am changing my guess from pilot error to the curse of the Jabiru
NovemberFoxtrot Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Awww, thats one of the planes i fly in :(
facthunter Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 The oil could just be a hose not tightened. the dipstick perhaps. loose, but when it's jabiru involved it must be the engine's fault. I thought he might have the cowl off because the engine was missing. Nev 1 1

Patrick Normoyle Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Well done I say, don't know what caused it to come down, but the landing surface is not that ideal for Jab wheels, they are free from injury and minimal ( APPARANT ) damage, well done. Pat ( not a Jab fan, but the aircraft frame is a real tough nut and protects the occupants well ) . 1
facthunter Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Come close to being the best U/L to have a crash in. nev 1
AVOCET Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 The fence might have busted the oil cooler? Seems like there's a tote going on 1
fly_tornado Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 what aboout the through bolts? could they cause so much oil loss?
dazza 38 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 do you have any more details? agree it looks good considering: they are a tough airframe. Main thing is everyone is OK. Sorry mate that's all I know and it comes from the local news.
geoffreywh Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I'll see your thru' bolts and raise you a cracked cylinder
AVOCET Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I'm going with clogged fuel filter due to dirty Mogas , on both prangs this week 1
Jabiru7252 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I just noticed that the nose gear looks like its covered in oil, so I am changing my guess from pilot error to the curse of the Jabiru Could be cowshit....
