As suggested by the membership the board wish to compile a skills register. We invite all individuals and businesses that have skills or services that could assist the RA-Aus or its members, and are prepared to offer those skills/services to voluntarily register (using this Skills Registration form. If you cannot view the document or need it in another format please e-mail and we will send it to you in various formats. If you have any questions direct them to myself (mobile 0403 228986).

I do not know about anyone else.... looks like to me.... this is the STCC task dissected into its parts.

Seeing that is true, about 8 weeks ago we had Ed and Myles putting together a system like that.

So what is new?

Keith,

The idea of having a skills register has been around for quite a while but became a task, accepted by the Board, on 9th February 2013. Now, almost 7 months later, work has commenced to fulfil that promise. Clearly the concept of a skills register originated well before Ed and Myles attempted to gift the STCC job to Myles.

Jim is to be heartily congratulated for taking this task on. As Treasurer, with end-of-financial-year just gone and the AGM in a couple of weeks, I'm sure he is already flat out. You have to wonder why he has had to take it on rather than one of the Board who might not be so busy with RA-Aus matters.

I agree with Don - Jim has proven himself to be very committed to RAA and has taken on a lot of work. I hope the latest round of elections has brought us more like him.

I know from my dealings with Not-for-Profit groups that being able to call on a wide range of knowledge for assistance is invaluable. Things crop up at meetings that are outside our field of expertise, where a 5 minute talk with an expert could save a lot of time and money. For example, someone suggests we write a book commemorating 30 years. How do you find a writer, publisher, distributor, technical oversight, people with photos, personal knowledge, stories etc and who owns it? For refurbishing the building - what do you put in the tender, what's a reasonable cost, does it comply with building regulations, who can assess the tenders. Then there are volunteers who can provide assistance when the going gets too busy, for example scanning files for the new e-filing system. There are others - event organisers, Web & IT specialists, publicists, finance, legal & design. Think outside the box. RAA needs more than just IT, Lawyers and LAMEs.

I look forward to the day our Board run ideas past our expert members as routine good management.

There seems to be some pretty fuzzy logic here 034_puzzled.gif.ea6a44583f14fcd2dd8b8f63a724e3de.gif

Maybe its just me, but I fail to see any substantial connection between a Skills Register and the STCC position.

Don an Sue are right on the money.
