Camel Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 N.Q. By-Election Re-Run September 19, 2013 | Mark Clayton We’ve recently been made aware that some pre-paid voting envelopes sent to North Queensland members were only printed on the one (i.e. obverse) side, thereby potentially rendering invalid any by-election votes returned inside one of these misprinted envelopes. Sport Pilot’s mailing house has accepted responsibility for this error, and undertaken to re-issue – via first-class mail – replacement voting forms and corrected reply-paid envelopes. Based on Constitutional advice, and with the consent of the two nominees (Messrs. Marteene and Millard), it has been decided to re-run the N.Q. by-election voting round, and to also extend the closing date. All financial North Queensland members are now asked to resubmit their votes, being sure to include your membership number on the reverse side of the envelope. Please note that previously submitted 2013 N.Q. by-election votes will not be counted, and that those members who have already submitted ballot papers are required to do so again (using the resupplied form and envelope). Completed ballot forms must be received by head office before 4 p.m. (E.S.T.) on Friday, November 1st, 2013. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this error. Yours sincerely, Mark Clayton General Manager It seems that there may be confusion asking those who have voted to vote again in my opinion. 1 1
frank marriott Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 And you wonder why people don't bother voteing. Now wait for more forms and do it all again. I downloaded the form and sent it with my membership number on the back of the envelope, including "NQ- by-election", now it appears it will not count - no new information required????????? [i receive my copy of Sport Flying weeks after most people for some unexplanable reason] I am at a loss to understand what resubmitting the same info in the same format changes. The envelope is not my vote. To reject my submitted vote on the postal date would be questionable in law - "Please note that previously submitted 2013 N.Q. by-election votes will not be counted, and that those members who have already submitted ballot papers are required to do so again (using the resupplied form and envelope)." I am at a loss to understand this statement. One thing for sure the counting will be easier.
rankamateur Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 An RAA good time in a brothel would be a real challenge at the moment!
Guest Maj Millard Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Ok today's update as I have been informed by the office, by phone late today....There is to be an emergency express mail out of fresh voting forms to EVERY member with a NQ postcode, and they should be in the mail next week. Full details of the re-election have now been posted on the RAAus website. That's all I know ATM, and as I am one of the candidates, I should Probabily refrain from any further comment, lest I be accused of trying to influence the vote. In SUMMERY, it appears to me that the office has things in hand well at this time.................Maj...
fly_tornado Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Just goes to show you how effective complaining publicly is...

I did the same downloaded ballot paper filled it in and sent to RAA with my membership number on the back of envolope. However I may not be able to vote as tomorrow i'm travelling and will not get this new mail out until i'm home on 4th November. I'll email RAA about this as my presently received vote should count. I want my vote to count. Cheers Mike 1
