Mark11 Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 I love this video - birds are much smarter than we give them credit...
Old Koreelah Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 What happened next? Did he crash? It did not look like he was setting up to land, and that spot didn't look like a good place to fly into with wide wings.
facthunter Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Bird brains are small. When they evolved wings they didn't need to think a lot to get away from their predators but then came birds of prey. Buggered that idea. Back to the drawing board. Nev

Nev Size doesn't seem to matter much here; the smartest birds still have very small brains. Crows, galahs etc. A lot of the flying is done by their brain's autopilot, just like walking for us.

Old Koreelah Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 And in big flocks they never seem to collide, the whole group seem to think as one. Amazing so see, and we still have little idea how they do it. Google Rupert Sheldrake. His theories of Morphic Fields and Morphic Resonance would explain a lot of the mysteries we see in nature.
