Admin Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 A CASA audit of our operations undertaken in 2012 identified that many Special Certificates of Airworthiness were issued – by CASA – specifying an incorrect purpose. The latter currently specifies “Airwork” or “Aerial work”. There are however only three operational purposes for a Light Sport Aircraft: 1. Flight Training 2. Private Operations 3. Glider towing. If your Special Certificate of Airworthiness does not state one or more of these three purposes you will need to have the certificate re-issued. Although there are no safety consequences arising from this error it potentially invalidates your Certificate which, in turn, could compromise your insurance. In order to remedy this you will need to obtain a replacement Certificate and provide a copy to this office prior to your next registration renewal in 2014. To facilitate this process, CASA is allowing affected owners a grace period of twelve months effective from your registration date. You may want to approach the CASA Authorised Person who issued your original certificate so as to have it amended and re-issued. Alternatively, you’ll find a full listing of CASA Authorised Persons available online at: http://casa-query.funnelback.com/search/search.cgi?collection=casa_delegates Please do not hesitate to contact the Technical Team at [email protected] or at the office on 02 6280 4700 should you have any related questions.
