Teckair Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Yeah Keith don't cut yourself on the broken glass.
Keith Page Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Andy Two months and no add or recruitment exercise anywhere. To me that adds up to big long wind.. Must be a long process. Teckair. Been around far too long to throw rocks in a glass house. This is a case for ear and eyes open and mouth shut for survival in a big industrial organization. Must be cunning and verify that the stones are landing in the correct place. Regards Keith Page.
nomadpete Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Nomad why are you persisting with denigrating good people? If you have anything to suggest that Adam or Wayne were not either qualified or suitable then let's hear it otherwise bring yourself up to scratch with what has been happening, and stop rubbishing these people. Turbs, With all due respect I was not in any way denigrating anybody. I did, in fact say as much in my post. I was suggesting that there has historically been a mismatch between our needs (regarding the role fulfilled by the tech Manager) and the combination of technical skills, knowledge, ability to operate successfully within the framework of the organisation, etc... presented by each successive person who has been a tech manager. Otherwise, there would not be a turnover of staff in this job. We have had (unfortunately) many good people put a lot of effort into the job. But we still can't keep a tech manager for very long, can we? Why is that? How do we overcome the problem? Pete
turboplanner Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 You're just saying the same thing a different way, where it would be more productive to get..the..facts. Adam's post a while back should have set red lights going off, but no members bothered to respond. I'm even prepared to give Steve Bell some credit after being gobsmacked to find a CASA document making the setting up and maintenance of a Safety Management System the direct responsibility of each and every board member, and finding the board members had offloaded their responsibility on to Steve. In that instance, Steve's qualificationjs had nothing to do with that action. 1
Keith Page Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Yes Turbo that is called duck shoving as you said has been going on for ages. Like footy someone has to run grab the ball and run it up, you just can't sit back and pass the ball around. When you grab the ball and run it you do get some scratches however the ball gets over the try line some times. How basic is that exercise?
nomadpete Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Specifically, I did say: "ability to operate successfully within the framework of the organisation," In my opinion, that covers what you are saying.... If the tech manager is unable to operate successfully within the framework of the organisation, that definitely includes the possibility of him being (for instance) hamstrung by the board. I am just pointing out that there are multiple factors that must be allowed for when selecting a man (or woman) for the job. Did you consider the possibility that maybe I was hinting that the board could benefit from making changes to the framework in order to keep staff? From what I have heard, there are changes happening to the framework surrounding recruitment. So I am confident that things are improving. Positive that RAAus is working to overcome the problem Pete 1
