Guest Maj Millard Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Quite a few of us northeners have decided to get organised and head South for the Seaplane Pilots Assoc inaugural convention and get together at Rathmines on Lake McQuarie, just South of Newcastle . It runs through from the 7th to the 10th November 2013, with aerobatics from Matt Hall on the weekend, plus other fun stuff. Looking foward to it !!.....so don't be a stranger if your in the area...always great to meet new forumites in the flesh..........Maj...
David Isaac Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Ross, what days are you guys going to be there and where are you flying in to. (floats on the Lightwing maybe ... LOL)
Guest Maj Millard Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 David, Ian, Julie Wells and myself flying into Newcastle airport around 5 PM on the 5th, and departing site at Rathmines Sunday or Monday. Others making their way there by various means. We are all sharing a cottage not far from site. No floats on Lightwing yet so it's a burner trip. As we all live in an area that screams for water ops , it has our interest in a big way. We currently have a Bucceener, Seamax and Petrel aircraft owned in the area, and we have all been reading Richard Bachs latest book, 'Adventurers with Puff'...about his trip across the States in his Searay amphib.............Ross
David Isaac Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Great, lets arrange to finally catch up. I'll be there, probably in the caravan on site or close. 1

Guest Maj Millard Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 We will be down from Qld, staying with my son at Chain Valley Bay. Question is, How do I recognise fellow rec flyers? We'll be the ones with the real tans and beer guts. No...really, we'll no doubt be hanging around the more UL type seaplanes, I'll be wearing an Air Whitsunday cap..lt tan with red Air Whit wings on front. Or touch base with Adam Holt one of the organisers, he'll point us out as he is an ex-Air Whitsunday pilot. I'll also PM you my mobile Derek ok ?........... Cheers , looking foward to it.........Ross Millard

facthunter Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Thanks for the offer David. It's not likely that I can get there as Pat is going in hospital tomorrow (Monday) for four days and after that a couple of months with a foot in plaster. I'll have to care for the carer. Keep away from those fires chaps, and have a good time at Rathmines. I spent a lot of time there in my youth and saw plenty of Catalina's and sunderland/sandringhams dropped in too and Frigate Bird 2? prepared for the Chilean flight with PG Taylor . Nev

Barefootpilot Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Sorry for the delay in getting back here I've been away in a Searey flying to Cairns and looking after a newborn so life is busy! Flights will be $100 for a 15 minute scenic flight. The aircraft will be arriving Friday afternoon for a couple of training session and then we will be set up from 9am or maybe a bit earlier on Saturday morning for scenic flights. I'll either be manning the umbrella and dock or if they are nice to flying the thing! Adam
